Daisy Gingham Set By Sharon Phillips DIRECTIONS Beginner SIZE Place mat: 13 x 171⁄2 inches Coaster: 41⁄2 inches square Napkin ring: 13⁄4 inches in diameter Daisy jug: 6 inches high MATERIALS • 3-ply sport weight yarn: 31⁄4 oz medium blue, 21⁄2 oz white, 11⁄4 oz light blue, 1⁄2 oz yellow • Crochet hooks sizes E/4 and G/6 or sizes needed to obtain gauge • Empty 8-qt powdered-soft- drink container (31⁄2 inches in diameter x 5 inches high x 2 1⁄4-inch top opening) • Glue • Tapestry needle GAUGE With hook size E, 1 square = 21⁄8 inches With hook size G, 11 sc = 2 inches; 7 sc rnds = 1 inch Check gauge to save time. PATTERN NOTES Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Sl st to join each rnd in top of beg st. (60 sc) At the end of Rnd 10, sl st in next st, leaving a length of yarn, fasten off. With Rnd 38 of body at bottom, slip body over container. Working through both thicknesses, sew Rnd 10 of base to Rnd 38 of body. HANDLE (make 2) Rnd 1: With crochet hook size G and medium blue, leaving a 10-inch length at beg, ch 10, sl st to join to form a ring, ch 1, sc in each ch around. (10 sc) Rnds 2–36: Sc in each sc around. At the end of Rnd 36, sl st in next st, leaving a length of yarn, fasten off. Using photo as a guide, flatten tube; curl end tightly for 3 or 4 rnds and stitch in place. Rep curl on opposite end in opposite direction. Sew ends of handle to side of jug. DAISY (make 2) Rnds 1 & 2: Rep Rnds 1 and 2 of daisy for Napkin Ring. Position daisies on front of jug and tack in place.
