Take the nourishing ingredients of Scottish folk music, mix in the
exotic flavours of other European traditions and season with a
large dash of old-time mountain herbs. Mix them all together, stir
vigorously and leave in the sun to cure. What do you get? Pigtown
Fling, a duo serving up a musical dish designed to invigorate even
the most demanding of palates. Using guitar, mandolin, banjo,
whistles, Spanish bagpipes and voices, Pigtown Fling combine
them all to produce a refreshing, cross-cultural sound. Join us and
get to know the Scottish tradition and their customs. Experience
the most significant ethnological Carnival festival at the hotel Mitra
in Ptuj, Slovenia.

In remembrance of the last but one owner of the Ptuj
Castle, the Scottish Earl Leslie, we furnished one of the
29 rooms in the hotel Mitra in a special style. The room
is also named after the Earl who bought and restored
the castle in the second half of the 17th century.

To renew contacts with the distant Scotland the hotel
Mitra has invited the Scottish ethno band Pigtown
Fling who has already visited our hotel two years ago.
They were enraptured by the Carnival in Ptuj and the
town itself. This year they will return to Ptuj during
Carnival season, from February 20 to February 24,
and will entertain you with Scottish folk music, dance
and national drinks.
Hotel Mitra’s programme of events during
the 49th Carnival festival in Ptuj:
Friday, 20.2.2009 - a Scottish evening with the
Scottish ethno band Pigtown Fling and Scottish beer beginning at 7:00 p.m. Exclusive Scottish beer is available only at the Hotel Mitra.
Join us and get to know the Scottish tradition and their
customs. Experience the most significant ethnological Carnival festival at the hotel Mitra. During Carnival
season, from February 14 to February 24, 2009, we
offer you typical Carnival dishes and drinks.
Saturday, 21.2.2009 - the evening’s full entertainment including the music of the band Pigtown Fling
and a presentation of traditional Scottish dances beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, 22.2.2009 - a Scottish-Slovene evening Scottish bagpipes vs. an accordion - beginning at
6:00 p.m. The music of the band Pigtown Fling combined with the sound of an accordion.
Monday, 23.2.2009 - the Scots get to know Slovene
wine – beginning at 7:00 p.m.
A wine tasting event accompanied by the music of the
band Pigtown Fling. Join us and taste Slovene wine
from Osterberger’s wine cellar.
Tuesdey, 24.2.2009 - a Scottish day with Scottish music and whisky – beginning at noon (12:00)
The conclusion of the traditional Carnival and an after
job party with Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Costumed guests receive a welcome drink on
arrival at the hotel Mitra.
