So, you want to be a
Certified Coder?
To be a Certified
Professional Coder
(CPC®), you need to know
medical terminology
and anatomy along with
diagnosis and CPT coding.
Then you need to use
these skills to translate
"doctor" into insurancespeak.
If you are a medical
office language expert,
translator, coder, biller
de-coder, or doctor in
your office, this boot
camp is for you.
Boot Camp will cover
all of these areas with
real coding scenarios (like
those on the test) so you
can hone your diagnostic
and CPT coding skills and
prepare to take the CPC
exam.
A mock AAPC exam will
be given each morning to
assess the your needs and
tailor each day's class.
Test and test prep tips will
also be given throughout
the class so that you can
test with confidence!
Coder? Biller? Office Manager?
You've come to the right place!
To be a CPC you'll need
to demonstrate expertise
in the following areas:
•
•
•
•
Medical Terminology
Anatomy
ICD-9-CM
CPT Coding for each
body system
• HCPCS Level II
You'll need to take a deep look
and broaden your knowledge.
(Remember that you
may need to spend extra
time studying or working
on any areas that you
have less experience in.)
Karen Zook,
CPC, CCP
Our expert for this class
is Karen Zook CPC, CCP.
Karen has worked in the
billing industry for over
two decades as a coder,
biller, and an insurance
auditor. She is also a
Certified Compliance
Professional with the
Medicare Fraud and
Abuse Institute. With
Karen you'll learn more
than how to code, you'll
learn to be a better,
stronger, and more
proactive coder.
This class will work you
hard for two days and
will probably be the best
thing you've done for the
office or yourself all year.
Make 2011 your year,
the year you become a
Certified Professional
Coder with the AAPC, the
year you took charge and
made it happen.
Due to the intense
nature of this class,
class size will be strictly
limited to a maximum
of three dozen students.
To make sure you get
into the class you want,
pre-register as early as
possible.
Per Karen, "Get
ready for your test
in two days with this
intense class. It is
called boot camp
because you will in
be in shape for your
big test day–
prepared to become
an AAPC Certified
Professional Coder."
You can purchase these books
together online at the AAPC.
You will only be
allowed to use certain
books for the test. We
also recommend these
same books for class–
• CPT 2011 Professional
Edition manual
• 2011 ICD-9-CM manual
• 2011 HCPCS Level II
manual
Not Acceptable for the
CPC exam –
• CPT Expert
• CPT Plus!
The CPC exam is a career maker
and a true achievement.
*Please Note: In order
to take the CPC® exam
you must be a member
of the AAPC. You must
also register and pay for
your test, four (4) weeks
prior to your test date.
Class will run 9am-4 pm
both days (registration
begins at 8:30am) with a
catered half-hour lunch.
Dress comfortably. Bring
pens, pencils, highlighters, a notebook, and your
manuals. You may even
want some sticky notes
to flag pages.
