Summer Literacy Program Theme varies each week 9:00-11:00 Grades K-2 As students end the school year, it is easy to get caught in the summer slump where learning stops taking place. Summer literacy sessions run for one week at a time, and are developed as a fun way to help keep kids’ minds active and practicing the skills they’ve learned during the school year, thus helping them be better prepared for school in the fall. Students will practice reading, writing, listening, speaking, math, and science skills each week. See the Summer Literacy Brochure for more information. Group Tutoring Tuesday/Thursday Tuesday/Thursday Tuesday/Thursday 3:30-4:15 4:30-5:20 5:30-6:20 Grades 1-2 Grades 3-5 (Literacy) Grades 3-5 (Math) Research has shown that most students lose an average of one month of school learning over summer vacation with math computation, reading, and spelling being the areas of greatest loss. Our 16 session tutoring program offers your child the consistency necessary to maintain learning from the previous year, remediate in areas of need and prepare for the next school year. Students will work in a small group with a maximum of 3 students per Brown School teacher MindUP™ Integration We are pleased to announce that MindUP™ is an important part of our summer program. Each day we will practice different techniques to embrace our surroundings and prepare for the time and tasks ahead. Mindful, focused awareness can increase children’s attention, memory and enjoyment of what they see, hear and experience. Through the creation of a supportive school/camp community, students are able to share and exchange ideas and build lasting knowledge of subject and material.
