The design features include a fitness studio, expanded locker rooms, and a larger movement studio for exercise programs. The fitness studio is the same size as the one in the Kiva Club, while the locker rooms are twice as large. The new clubhouse will also have two multi-purpose spaces designed to adjust according to Members’ needs and desires. The Culinary Studio will boast a fully-equipped kitchen for cook- and socialize. Between the two buildings is a 3,000 square foot covered outdoor living room, expected to include resort-style outdoor furniture for casual gatherings and events. The space will be positioned to maximize the relationship between the new club and the surrounding Sonoran desert. A total of 6,000 square feet of outdoor living and patio space will be covered. “We believe this space will be ing demonstrations and classes, but also will be able to host wine tastings, birthday or holiday parties and other special events. The same goes for the new Artisan Studio. When Members aren’t painting or creating masterpieces, they’ll be able to hold club meetings and other social gatherings in the space. The Fitness, Movement, Culinary and Artisan Studios all open to covered patios, providing even more options for users seeking a unique place to celebrate, create an exciting and popular new addition to the menu of Members’ options for all of their events and gatherings,” Looney said. A second resort-style pool completes the plan, featuring a deck the same size as its counterpart at the Kiva Club, and a wonderful grassy area set aside for Members who want to sun on the lawn rather than poolside. Parking for golf carts and bicycles will be included in the parking lot plan still being developed. Candidates for Kiva Club Committee Lining Up B allots with the names of Trilogy® Members interested in election to a committee that will oversee improvements to the Kiva Club will be mailed to all households in early October, with votes due in early November. Nine residents will be elected to the Kiva Club Enhancement Committee, which will be responsible for working on all as- will participate in the counting of the ballots and the certification of the results. “We believe the Kiva Club will become a more valuable amenity to Members as a result of this process,” said Hal Looney, Area President, Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities. “There are many affordable improvements that can be made that will immediately pects of the project, including development of project priorities, member feedback, architectural designs, contractor selection and management of the work. Along with ballots will be statements from the candidates making their case for election to the committee. Trilogy® Members not affiliated with any of the candidates 1 make the Club more useful to Members,” Looney said. Shea announced the committee concept in June to give residents a voice in determining how best to improve the Kiva Club. Shea also has announced it will contribute $250,000 toward the project. Scottsdale Designer Brings Trilogy® Experience to Clubhouse Design T he new clubhouse design takes full advantage of the spectacular surroundings of the site and features a resort pool concept that will remind residents of a time when taking a dip was reserved only for those who could afford a stay at a glamorous desert oasis, according to the designer on the project. Scottsdale designer Wendell Pickett’s team at Greey-Pickett did the original design for Trilogy® 12 years ago. He has worked on Trilogy® projects all over the United States. So coming up with something unique for a second clubhouse in the new neighborhood was as much familiar as it was challenging. “The creative idea was to take advantage of the surroundings,” Pickett said. “Each of the spaces is positioned so that it takes full advantage of the adjacent outdoor uses, likes spokes on a wheel, each facing the outside.” Pickett said the new resort pool and deck will be special because of its simplistic design and old fashioned palm grove. “The pool will remind resi- Nick Newberry, a concept designer for Scottsdale-based Greey-Pickett, puts the finishing touches on renderings for the new clubhouse. dents of the casual elegance of the resort experience from a simpler time,” Pickett said. The pool, designed in the tradition of Arizona-style pools that once defined the local lifestyle to visitors from the East, will draw from the surrounding landscaping and a variety of pool deck surfaces to complete the experience, he said. “We have picked up pieces of the Kiva concept with this design while still making it unique to the new site.” Desert Hills, Open Space Recognized, Preserved as Key Amenity H ills located on the northern boundary of the new Trilogy® neighborhood will be preserved as part of the plan to promote open space throughout the expansion area. beauty of the community,” said Hal Looney, Area President, Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities. Looney added that several areas of desert will be designated for open space, with many of Several hilltops provide an up-close glimpse of the landscape in the area and are critical to the lifestyle Trilogy® Members seek when they buy homes in the community. “The hills contribute to the 2 those areas planned as a buffer between the existing and new neighborhoods. Open spaces also will be featured along the expanded trail and walkway network. Trilogy® Trail, Walkway Network Grows with New Neighborhood T rilogy® Members who like to walk and hike will get to enjoy new trails and walkways being planned as part of the new neighborhood. Several of the trails and walkways envisioned in the new project will be mile-long routes winding through desert open space and common areas. “Our network of trails and walkways expands greatly under this plan,” said Joan Scarbrough, Project Manager, Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities. “If you like to walk and hike in the community, you will love all of the extra paths that will be built during the various phases of the new project,” she said. First Look at Loft Home Concepts R esidents in some parts of the new Trilogy® neighborhood will have the opportunity to choose a new loft home concept that has received positive feedback in other Trilogy® communities. These lofts take advantage of unused space in the attic to offer another living area to homebuyers but do so without the appearance of a big box two-story home common in many Valley neighborhoods. Shea has committed to current Trilogy® neighbors with homes along the boundaries of the new neighborhood that these loft homes would not be built on lots adjacent to existing homes. “These designs will only be offered on lots that are inside the new neighborhood, eliminating any impact to our current Trilogy® Members,” said Hal Looney, Area President, Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities. These new designs will resemble a traditional one-story ranch home, but feature a secondary space upstairs, such as a spare bedroom, study, craft room or storage area. T he new clubhouse at Trilogy® will give residents options when going to the pool, fitness center or movement studio as it boasts all three amenities. When combined with locker rooms double the size of those at the Kiva Club, Trilogy® neighbors will be able to enjoy expanded access and choices in programming and leisure activities. The covered outdoor living room and new multi-purpose spaces also will give clubs and social groups more options for meeting times and places. The four-court complex will feature benches for players and spectators and a design intended to help reduce sound from the courts during Pickleball play. The regulation courts will be surrounded by landscaping meant to incorporate the additional space into the existing Kiva Club environment. Earlier this year, Shea Homes announced its support for bringing Pickleball to Trilogy® and the Pickleball Club’s efforts to fund and construct the courts, to be located south of the Kiva Club’s existing tennis court complex. Trilogy® Pickleball Club members raised almost $45,000 for the project. Shea committed to support the effort with a contribution of between $180,000 and $200,000 to complete the job. “We are excited about this partnership with our Members and the chance to once again demonstrate our commitment to the Trilogy® community,” said Hal Looney, Area President, Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities. Plans are working their way through the approval process at Peoria City Hall. A groundbreaking celebration will be scheduled once plans are approved and a construction timetable is determined. This grassy area south of the tennis courts will become home to Trilogy® at Vistancia’s first Pickleball court complex. Walls around the courts will help reduce the sound that results from Pickleball play. Overview of the Pickleball courts project shows how the new amenity will fit with the existing design of the Kiva Club area. 6 Trilogy® Members Help Shape Design of Space Connecting Neighborhoods P lans for the space connecting the two Trilogy® neighborhoods have evolved over the past several months thanks to the ideas and suggestions from Trilogy® Members living on the western and northern edges of the community. “The goal has been to try to maintain the Trilogy® lifestyle for our Members both during and after expansion,” said Chris Nevins, Project Director, Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities. “Most of these changes to the original plan were the result of constructive comments from residents,” he added. • Shea shifted the main entry road off Vistancia Boulevard as far north as possible. • Shea added a landscape buffer between the entry road and existing homes. • Shea added a +/-40 foot landscape buffer along the western boundary of the existing Trilogy® neighborhood. • Shea moved the location of the new clubhouse farther north. • Shea committed that it would build only onestory homes along the western edge of the existing Trilogy® neighborhood. • Lighting used in the neighborhood will conform with dark sky lighting designs. Hills and open spaces are shown as part of Phase One design plans. Key Amenities at New Clubhouse Will Relieve Kiva Club Demand M embers throughout the Trilogy® community will benefit from the addition of the new clubhouse because of the duplication and expansion of residents’ favorite amenities. The new clubhouse will feature a second resort pool and deck, a second fitness center and movement studio, bigger locker rooms and more event and meeting space. *These designs are conceptual.
