Summer History HiJinx:
Robot Mania!

See some cool vintage robots in the
Toys of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s exhibit,
and then cut, color and add a dash of
flash to create your own paper and wire
contraption. Included with museum
admission.
Toys of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s
Exhibit on view through Jan. 5, 2015.
Dive into the culture and history of popular toys from the ’50s, ’60s
and ’70s – from the kids who played with them to the adults who
bought them – and discover how they reflect American life. You’ll
experience these iconic toys and their stories through three playful
living rooms that bring the decades back to life. Also see page 13
for the new Toys of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s book.

Tales of Paul Bunyan,” “Streetcar Time
Machine” and more. Included with

Tuesday in July & August
Bring a lawn chair. Pack a picnic or buy food and beer/wine from the Café
Minnesota terrace grill. Come early and take advantage of free admission to
the museum galleries and stores that are open until 8 p.m. If it rains, the party

John Howe: The Pencil in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hand

Join author Jane King Hession for an illustrated talk about the
architecture and artistry of John Howe, one of the 20th century’s finest
architectural renderers and the one-time chief draftsman for Frank Lloyd

Join us for the fifth Minnesota History Day at the State Fair’s Carousel
Park. It’s an action-packed line-up of music, trivia and fun. Included with

War of 1812: Canada, the United States, Great Britain
and Native Americans
Opens Tue., 6/3
This intimate exhibit created by the Canadian War Museum explores
the War of 1812 through the perspectives of the main participants:
Canadians (including Canadian First Peoples), Americans, the British
and Native Americans. Original artifacts from the MNHS collections will
be on display, including the first map to show the existence of all five
Great Lakes; a first edition of Father Hennepin’s “Travels” and a 1689 fur
trade contract with Nicolas Perrot.

Prize-Winning Historian, Alan Taylor
