15th Annual Virginia Peninsula Jewish Film Festival on Merchant’s Square

The true story of how, in 2006, a gang of anti-semetic French youngsters kidnapped a 23 year old Paris telephone vendor and held him
for ransom on the theory that since he was Jewish, he must be rich. The film is adapted from his mother’s account of the 24 day ordeal.

Come out for the 9th annual W&M Global Film Festival Fall Theme launch. Our 2016 programming theme is “Film & Community”
(main event: Feb. 18-21, 2016), celebrating film and the Williamsburg community with a mash-up of old/new, local/global, and
eclectic fun for all tribes, gangs, groups, and moviegoers. We begin with a community sing-along screening of West Side Story (1961).
Snap and sing along with the W&M Show Choir who will help lead the way. Then join us in the Kimball Lobby for a Buzoku Shukai
(tribal gathering) Japanese themed reception featuring complimentary food and drink. That party will prime the crowd for our second
feature: Japanese cult film auteur Sion Sono’s Tokyo Tribe, a hip-hop/samurai/martial-arts/kitsch-pomo-pinku-style reimagining of
the gang fight musical. You’ll also catch a revival screening of our very own community musical homage to WSS: Southeast Side Story,
produced in 2011 featuring an epic Kimball Theatre movie-musical throw down between Williamsburg’s Twamps and Townies.
