Applied Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Core Facilitation Certificate Program Certified through the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto Empirically supported, the MBSR health intervention offers participants the possibility to develop a different relationship to stress resulting from chronic physical and psychological conditions. This rigorous and internationally recognized certificate program offered at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies was developed to train the teaching competencies set out in the Bangor, Exeter and Oxford Mindfulness-Based Interventions Teaching Assessment Criteria. The MBSR certificate program consists of four modules: • Mindfulness Core Concepts Learn about the research and application of mindfulness in a rigorous setting. This one-day workshop will introduce participants to the origins, principles and practices of mindfulness-based stress reduction. • Mentorship in MBSR Facilitation Novice MBSR facilitators often require ongoing mentoring for issues that arise during the MBSR group process. Participants must have completed the 6-day Intensive Retreat on MBSR Facilitation before enrolling. Dates: May 6 or Aug 5, 2016 Fee: $335* Facilitator: Evan Collins MD FRCPC Please contact us and indicate your interest in this module for more information. • 6-Day Intensive Training on MBSR Facilitation This teacher training intensive will provide participants with the opportunity to study and experience the foundational underpinnings, mindfulness practices and specific exercises that are the framework of the MBSR program. • Refining Inquiry Inquiry is the practice of engaging in a dialogue that assists us in investigating experience. It is an essential part of this modality and is a vital skill for those wishing to facilitate MBSR groups. Prerequisites for the MBSR Certificate include (1) having an advanced degree, being a clinician in training or having alternative experience and training (pre-approved by our faculty); (2) completing an 8-week MBSR program as a participant; (3) attending a 5-7 day Silent Retreat prior to completion of the certificate; and (4) having a regular meditation practice.
