Flying High Again There's no doubt that Bob Kulick is the King of tribute albums. Bob Kulick is a legendary Guitar Player who has played with the likes of MeatLoaf, Alice Cooper, Kiss, and Diana Ross to name just a few throughout his legendary career but over the last few years Bob has become more known as a Producer who has put together some great tribute CDs and his latest Project: Immortal Randy Rhoads is no exception. It amazes me that there hasn't been a Randy Rhoads tribute CD of this magnitude release until now when you consider what a Guitar God: Randy Rhoads was and how loved he really was. When you consider the fact that Randy Rhoads has no been dead more years than he was alive I'd say it's high time a tribute CD like this was UNLEASHED to his many fans around the world! Immortal Randy Rhoads is a very fitting title for this Cd when you consider that not only was Randy loved by his millions of fans around the world but by many of his peers and fellow Musicians to this very day still talk about the huge Talent tas was and still is RANDY RHOADS. Randy inspired many of the Musicians who play on this very CD and it's very interesting to hear them perform on his songs. While the bulk of the material covere on this CD is from his hey day with Ozzy Osbourne I'm so happy to see that two QUIET RIOT songs were also included on this collection because all too often people forget that Randy Rhoads was the original guitar Player in QUIET RIOT and he also played a huge role in that legendary band's rise on the Hollywood, Sunset Strip back in the late seventies. Tim Ripper Owens, Rudy Sarzo, Vinny Appice, and Randy's own Brother: kelle Rhoads are just a few of the many talented Musicians who play on this Immortal, Raise your fist in the name of Randy Rhoads Rockin tribute CD and ROCK in the name of Randy! Early Warning Lights And Thunder Back On The Streets Love Don't Come Easy Out With The Boys It's Over You're All I Need Broken Heart Til Death Do Us Part Farewll To You Deep In Love With You Two People Rock You Tonight Evil Angels Ride Through The Storm We Rock All Night Review by JROCK Houston When I saw this CD advertised on an on-line music store I just had to get my hands on it because I was such a huge White Lion back in the day and thought it would be nice to have a White Lion Greatest Hits collection to play in my car well let me tell you all if you're looking for a White Lion Greatest Hits Collection don't be fooled by the album title: Anthology because that's not exactly what you're getting here! Keep in mind that this Cd was released by Deadline/Cleopatra Records which in the past has been known to re-release CDS they've released in the past with new art work and then people don't realize they're purchasing a CD that's probably already in their collection. With that being said I also have to say that Deadline/Cleopatra Records is also a label that has made a real effort to keep Hard Rock/80's style Metal alive and well. It was this very label that released the last LA Guns studio album: Hollywood Forever as well as the recent Enuff Znuff Covers album: Covered In Gold so for that alone I think the label deserves some respect! Getting back to White Lion - Anthology - 1983-1989 was this release what I initially thought it was? Not really but with that being said I'm not sorry I purchased it either. What you have with this CD is a collection of previously unreleased demos/work tapes if you will where you can hear many of these songs in their real earliest stages and for anyone who is a White Lion fan like me it's kind of a cool thing to have a collection like this because while I've heard songs like "Wait" , When The Children Cry" , and "tell Me" countless times on the radio over the years with this CD I got a chance to hear these songs in a way I've never heard them before, cool to be able to hear a different version of these songs and see what these songs started out as to what they finally became. The other thing that I think makes this Cd a must listen to is the fact that you're getting a 2 CD set and I think when all is said and done that this CD accomplishes what it was probably meant to do which is to give White Lion fans something a little different and to remind the rest of the world of what a really great, remarkable, just amazing band that White Lion was! White Lion was and still is one of those bands that often gets forgotten but in their 80's hey day they were a force to be wreckoned with! All too often White Lion is also one of those bands that is thought of a one hit wonder band because most people think of "When The Children Cry" which was a major MTV Power Ballad back in the 80's! Put this CD on and you will be reminded there's so much more to the legend that was and is White lion! Put this CD on and you will see that White Lion was a Real ROCK BAND! These days Singer: mike Tramp is a solo artist, Guitarist: vito Bratta who was an 80's Guitar hero when the band was active no longer plays and Bassist: james Lomenzo has played with everyone from Megadeth, Peter Frampton, and David Lee Roth since the demise of White Lion.
