as part of Port of call in Joinvillele-Pont 30th & 31st May 2015 Pre-programme 5TH ÉDITION Joinville-le-Pont Quai Polans 94 46° 46' 32'' N / 0° 32' 15'' E La Régate 1900 is part of the fifteenth edition of the Festival de l'Oh! in Val-de-Marne. La Régate 1900, organised by the Conseil Général of Val-de-Marne in partnership with the city of Joinville-le-Pont sponsored by the FPMF, FFA, FFCK, and the FFV, is an opportunity to recreate the leisure and sports activities of old and to showcase river boats from bygone days such as rowing boats, skiffs, shell boats, canoes, river sailboats, etc. and typical costumes worn by oarsmen and sailors. It includes a restoration and watermanship competition, nautical games, traditional "à virage" races, cruises, parades (including a full-scale "Venetian eravaganza", a night-time parade of lit boats to the sound of music) and a "Cafouillage" procession set to music. There is also a "boaters village" with exhibits, stands run by museums and associations and a library-cafe. The participants will compete in "paddle", "oar" and "sail" categories for the "most beautiful boat" award (presented on land), for the best boatman and/or boatwoman prize (presented on the water) and for the "Joinville-le-Pont Régate 1900 Jury's Grand Prize". The 4-rower skiffs will race for the "Skiff Challenge". ACCESS AND RECEPTION (In progress) AWARDS AND PRIZES: PARKING (In progress) An independent jury, chaired by a leading figure from the canoeing, nautical sports and yachting world, will assess the competitors. Three prizes worth 80 ¤ will be given to the winners of the “best boatman or boatwoman prize”, the “Joinville-le-Pont Régate 1900 Jury’s Grand Prize” per category (paddle, oar, sail). A prize worth 80 ¤ and a “Challenge” will be given to the winners of the coxed four skiff race. A “European Canoeing Prize” will be awarded to the best boat and/or crew from abroad. BOATS: Ancient paddle boats, rowing boats and sail boats (draught must not exceed 5 metres). Reconstructions of 19th century and mid-20th century boats and wooden C-boat with English wooden oars are welcome. BOAT PARK: Quai de Polangis. COURSE: Along the Ile Fanac. PARTICIPANTSMEETING: > Saturday evening, at 8:30pm: presentation of the Venetian extravaganza scenario and safety regulations. > Sunday morning, at 8:30am: presentation of the regatta races and safety regulations. Schedule Saturday 30th May 2015 2pm - 6pm Participants in the "most beautiful boat" competition present their boats to the Jury. The Jury passes successively before the sail boats, paddle boats and rowing boats. On-land presentation of the boats (the jury will judge the age, orinality of the boat, quality of the restauration and documentation). Then the participants will prepare their boat for the Venetian eravaganza (lanterns provided by the Festival de l'Oh!). 7pm Welcome cotail and meal offered by the town of Joinville-le-Pont. 8:30pm Briefing on the Venetian eravaganza. 9pm - 9:45pm Preparation of masts and lanterns on the boats. 9:45pm Casting off for the Venetian eravaganza. 10:15pm Start of the Venetian eravaganza : nocturnal boat parade with lanterns, music and light setting. Sunday 31st May 2015 9:00am Welcome coffee and meeting of participants for a reminder of the rules and safety instructions for Sundays competition. 9:30am Boarding for the flotilla cruise on the Marne with all categories of boats: possibility of exchanng boats, crews or trying other means of propulsion... 11:45am Return to Joinville-le-Pont. 12:15am - 1:30pm Lunch offered Joinville-le-Pont. by the town of 2pm - 3pm Parade-procession: successive start in front of Jury of sail boats, paddle boats and rowing boats and in numbered order. 3pm - 3:30pm Sailing regattas. 3:30pm - 4pm Paddle boat regattas: 450 m roundtrip race. 4pm - 4:30pm Rowing regattas: 450 m roundtrip race. 4:30pm - 5pm The "Cafouillage" slow flotilla procession of all the boats to the sound of music. 5:30pm Prize ving. The participants must insure their equipment and boat(s). Safety in the water will be ensured by the Festival de l’Oh! and qualified lifeguards. A medical care service will be set up by the town of Joinville-le-Pont. Allowance for boat transportation is limited to 200 ¤ (Expenses paid by the Festival de l’OH!). CATERING Meals for Saturday evening and Sunday lunch subject to prior inscription.
