The Museum also launched an abbreviated fall tour in 2015 and is in the process of organizing another for 2016. Please check the museum website at www.dcmm.org for up-to-date information as it becomes available. Volume 23, Issue 1 June 10 - 12, 2016 Let’s celebrate one of the largest collections of lighthouses on the Great Lakes! The Door County Lighthouse Map is a useful tool in finding and researching Door County’s remarkable maritime lights. It is also the official guide to the annual Door County Lighthouse Festival. This year’s event begins Friday, June 10, and will continue through Sunday, June 12, with a wide assortment of tours, both land-based and by boat. Many of the tours are unique to this one weekend each year so if you haven’t visited Plum Island, Chamber’s Island, taken our one-of-a-kind trip to Rock Island or tried an amazing schooner voyage this is your chance. The evening dessert cruises on the Chicago Fireboat have also proven to be very popular. But, as you might expect, these rare opportunities can sell out quickly. Museum members get first crack at the tickets with sales beginning Monday, March 21. You might want to consider a museum membership to get a spot at the front of the line. The public sale gets underway on Monday, April 4. Feel free to call the Door County Maritime Museum at (920)743-5958 to order tickets or purchase them online at www.dcmm.org. As you can see from this map, the festival enjoys plenty of community support and we ask that during your stay you consider supporting the many dining, lodging and tour partners who help to make this event possible. Don’t forget to visit all three of our museum locations in Gills Rock, Sturgeon Bay and Cana Island. We want to publically thank Door County artist Kari Anderson for once again providing the cover artwork for this brochure. This image of the Plum Island light is one of six in her Door County Lighthouse poster series, a remarkable collection that underscores the Peninsula’s one-of-a-kind assortment of sentinels. Also visit our website (www.dcmm.org) for information regarding the Lighthouse Photo Contest.
