FSDS President’s Message
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the 31st Annual Meeting of the Florida Society of Dermatologic
Surgeons, “Advances in Dermatologic Surgery.” Our dedicated Program Chairmen, Keyvan Nouri, MD and Terrence
A. Cronin, Jr., MD, have worked arduously to assemble an outstanding faculty of expert international, national, and
distinguished Florida colleagues who will share their knowledge in a comfortable, relaxed environment at the
world-famous Breakers resort. No matter what interests you may have in dermatologic surgery there is something
in our program for you. Presentations ranging from excisions, Mohs surgery, and reconstruction to fillers, lasers,
hair transplantation, etc. will focus on practical pearls you can use in your practice. Virtually no aspect of
dermatologic surgery will go unaddressed. Our Annual Business Meeting will be held Saturday over lunch. In addition to our ambitious scientific program, we
have been working with the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (FSDDS), the Florida Medical
Association, and others to educate relevant parties about issues of great concern to dermatologic surgeons. These
issues range from Mohs surgery and skin substitutes to nurses obtaining the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
degree and thus becoming “doctors”. We are also changing the status of the FSDS from a 501(c)6 to a 501(c)3 to be
consistent with our Articles of Incorporation filed with the State of Florida. Dr. Lifshitz, President of the FSDDS,
will update us on our sister society’s activities and we will conclude with a presentation on what to look for in
managed care contracts.
You will not want to miss the Saturday night festivities. In addition to dinner and dancing, a magician
will entertain and dazzle us. Children ages 4 thru 12 years old will have their own party which will
include dinner and entertainment. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax, mingle with old
friends and make new ones.
As you can see, this meeting promises to be a highly informative, exciting event. We continue to strive to update our membership on the latest innovations and
techniques in dermatologic surgery that can be utilized when you return to
your practice. I strongly encourage you to make plans to attend.
See you at the Breakers! Clifford Warren Lober, MD, JD

Accommodations
The Breakers
The Breakers is a luxury oceanfront hotel and one of America’s legendary resort destinations. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the resort has invested $250 million over the
past decade in its ongoing revitalization and expansion. Its timeless atmosphere reflects the
elegant comforts and personalization of a grand residence, but energized with a youthful,
family-minded philosophy. Originally The Palm Beach Inn, constructed in 1896 by Henry
Morrison Flagler, The Breakers was destroyed by fire in 1903. Rebuilt in 1904 as The Breakers
and again taken by fire in 1925. The Breakers, as it is known today, re-opened its doors
December 29, 1926, rebuilt in a record breaking 11½ months at a cost of $7 million.
Created in the Italian Renaissance-style, inspired by the magnificent Italian villas of the
1400s. Exterior: Twin Belvedere towers with graceful arches, patterned after the Villa
Medici in Rome. Front drive: Re-designed and landscaped 1,040-foot main drive leads to
Florentine Fountain patterned after the fountain at the Boboli Gardens in Florence. Main
lobby: Inspired by the Great Hall of the Palazzo Carega (circa 1560) in Genoa. For more
information on The Breakers visit www.thebreakers.com.
Amenities: Two 18-hole championship golf courses, a 20,000-square-foot oceanfront
spa with ocean view fitness center, Mediterranean-style beach club overlooking onehalf mile of private beach, five swimming pools, luxury beach bungalows, variety
of water sports, 10 lighted tennis courts and an extensive program of family and
children’s activities. Also features an outstanding selection of nine restaurants and
an array of on-site boutiques with distinctive merchandise.
Climate: Due to its close proximity to the Gulfstream, Palm Beach enjoys a subtropical climate noted for year-round breezes and moderate temperatures
ranging from 75-85 degrees.
Location: The Breakers is located at One South County Road, Palm Beach,
Florida 33480, seven miles from Palm Beach International Airport, and 42
miles from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport and 72 miles from Miami
International Airport. Both Interstate 95 and the Florida Turnpike provide
easy access to South County Road (via Okeechobee Boulevard), which
leads to the entrance of The Breakers. Hotel Reservations: Reservations can be made on line by going to
