On Grey glacier, tongue of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field
Guests will meet their guides at RutasPagatonia´s operations base, in the Río Serrano sector, where they will go
through the program and itinerary and receive their personal equipment and then take a vehicle towards the Lago
Grey sector for the navigation.
After taking a boat ride across the lake to the front of the glacier guests will take a 20-minute walk through a
moraine toward the western edge of the glacier. The guides will fit guests with crampons and share information on
safety, use of equipment and ice-hiking techniques. At this moment, the group will appreciate different ice
formations and receive information about the ice, the movement of the glaciers and the effects of global warming.
Check in at RutasPatagonia´s operations base at 7:45 hrs.
Depart on the boat at Grey beach at 8:30 hrs.
Disembark at Grey beach at 14:00 hrs.

Professional climbing guides will lead guests on an exploration through the impressive ice formations on the most
important tongue of the Southern Patagonian Ice Fields in Torres del Paine National Park, the Grey glacier. Equipped with crampons, harnesses, ice axes and cords, participants will get to walk on one of the planet’s largest ice.
After enjoying the glacier and its formations, the guides will choose a wall on which to implement a top rope system.
Participants will practice vertical ice climbing techniques and will also enjoy a snack and hot drinks prepared by the
guides.

Navigation
In order to facilitate the development of touristic activities on the Grey glacier, CONAF has authorized the autonomy
of the navigation across the lake, exclusive only to guests that will go ice hiking and climbing. Also the navigation will
provide support to the logistics and operation of the concession, facilitating activities such as emergencies, evacuation, fiscalization and protection of resources.
The navigation service will only be available to guests that are taking the excurision on the ice, and that want to go
to the camping area or refuge in the Grey sector or want to return to the Hostería Lago Grey, as well as for guests
that are lodged in other sectors of the park and want to take the excursion.
This transfer service can be taken individually by making a reservation at the mountain guide refuge or at the operations base
of RutasPatagonia. You can call via the VHF radio frequency 150.800 or send an email to [email protected].
Navigation price for guests taking the excursion $20.000.- (CL pesos) USD$40ºº
Navigation price for guests taking a differed excursion $25.000.- (CL pesos) USD$50ºº

The Programs Include
General Conditions
Touristic Activities on Grey Glacier
Guest equipment (crampons, ice axe, personal backpack, helmet, harness, cords, climbing gear).
Bilingual specialized mountain guides.
VHF radio communication equipment and protocol.
First Aid Kit and assistance protocol.
Rescue equipment and evacuation protocol.
Hot drinks.
Transportation R/T Operation base – Grey lake (Programs P1CN, P4CN).
Navigation from Grey beach (Programs P1CN, P4CN).
Personal insurance for adventure activities.
No trip will be cancelled because of adverse weather conditions but there may be modifications on the itinerary
made by the guide to guarantee the guests’ safety and enjoyment.
All of the reservations must come with the following information: Name and Surname, passport number, nationality, birth date, height, weight, medical restrictions and food preferences. They must indicate where they are
spending the night.
The excursion activates a personal insurance for adventure activities.
One guide will go with a maximum of five guests.
The maximum amount of people on an excursion will be 25 guests and 5 guides.
Obligatory and Personal Equipment
Every passenger must bring to the excursions the following equipment for their safety:
The excursion includes the following equipment for guests and guides: safety equipment for the navigation
and technical equipment for the activities on the ice (crampons, ice axe, backpack, helmets, harness, cords,
climbing gear).

The navigation services for guests taking the excursion on the following day or for guests that did the excursion
the day before and are staying at the Grey campsite or the refuge, have to be reserved and confirmed through
the VHF radio frequency 150.800 at the mountain guide refuge or operations base of RutasPatagonia or email
to [email protected].
