SW1 U1 Function Switch SPI Flash IC J301 UP connect connector J302 Down connect connector ASUSTeK Confidential 2 October 14, 2011 ASUS JIG Board User Manual Update the target board’s BIOS ROM 2 2B 2.1 Connect JIG3 and update Flash 6B Step 1: Remove all power sources (include battery and power supply) from target board. Step 2: Connect USB cable from CN1 to your PC’s USB connector. J301 USB GND Pin 1 J302 Step2 Step 3: Connect FPC cable from J301(UP connect) or J302(Down connect) to your target board’s keyboard connector, choice J301 or J302 by target board connector type. Make sure JIG3 J30x’s Pin1 is connected to target board keyboard connector’s Pin1. Step3 Step4: Use a usb cable make common ground between JIG3 and target board. Connect JIG3 CN2 and usb port of taget board, and make sure all power sources was removed form target board. ASUSTeK Confidential 3 October 14, 2011 ASUS JIG Board User Manual Step5: Set SW1 to 0000. Step 6 Press POWER button to turn on power. Power led will turn on. Step 7 Check LED4 will show 00. Step7 Step 8: Run ASUS_WinFlash utility. Step 9: Check Protect NVRAM to Protect GPNV(Appendix A). (Can choose protect it or not) Check Step9 Step 10: Press LoadFile icon to load BIOS ROM file. Step 11: Press AutoBurn icon to burn BIOS ROM file to Target board. ASUSTeK Confidential 4 October 14, 2011 ASUS JIG Board User Manual Step 12: The message will show to turn on EC power and check ITE EC Power-Off Step12 Check Step 13: Turn on power and check “ITE EC Power-On” Step13 Check ASUSTeK Confidential 5 October 14, 2011 ASUS JIG Board User Manual Step 14: When this message show on the screen, choose pre backup BIOS ROM before burning or not. Step 15: After burning done, press POWER button again to turn off main power and turn off the ASUS_WinFlash utility. At this time you can remove all devices form target board. Step 2: Connect USB cable from CN1 to your PC’s USB connector. Step 3: Connect FPC cable from J301 or J302 to your target board’s keyboard connector, make sure JIG3 J30x’s Pin1 is connected to target board keyboard connector’s Pin1. Step4: Use a usb cable connect GND between JIG3 CN2 and taget board usb port, and make sure all power sources was removed form target board. October 14, 2011 ASUS JIG Board User Manual 3.2 Read BIOS ROM by using EC_JIG_WinFlash 8B Step 5: Connect USB cable from CN1 to your PC’s USB connector. Step 6: Set SW1 to 0000. Step 7: Press POWER button to turn on power. Power led will turn on. Step 8 Check LED4 will show 00. : Step8 Step 9: Check the USB Device “Asus JIG3” is Plug-In and ITE EC Power-Off. 10 Check Check Step 10: Press Read Rom icon to read BIOS ROM from target board. Step11: When this Message show on screen. Turn on target board power. Step12: If “ITE EC Power-On”, click “YES” to start read flash. Else check target board power, FPC cable, GND and redo Step 7. So, when Protect NVRAM checked, we will protect this section can’t be replaced. GPNV is searched by the index “BIOSINFO”. Normally, it only can use after Huron River platform.
