Some of Friedl's career involved the study and research of wood products, it's degradation and preservation. Friedl supervised an extensive research program which developed and what is now the world's number 1 wood preservative. In addition to getting into environmental issues, the performance and degradation of wood structures he developed a code of construction and safe operation of industrial wood preservation plants, this code has been adopted by Industry, Environment Canada and Health Canada. Although Friedl retired in 2006, he is still active involved in a number of committees in his industry. Friedl spoke to the guild last month about wood degradation, this month's meeting the talk was about wood preservation. Mr. Brudermann's talk again was very interesting and informative, it was very well received by the Guild.
