ABOUT NAMALE
In a secluded corner of Fiji where the rainforest meets the ocean, the rare, outrageous
beauty of Namale sprawls 525 acres across a former coconut plantation. Every day, our
guests can expect to experience culinary delights, award winning spa treatments, sun
soaked activities and world class service.
The resort is located in the township of Savusavu on Fiji’s second-largest island
of Vanua Levu—a mostly uninhabited landmass teeming with geothermal activity,
rolling hills and resplendent coral reefs. The same relaxed splendor exists in every

Tucked amongst lava pinnacles, lush jungle foliage or majestic rain trees, each bure — the Fijian
word for home — is completely luxurious and utterly charming. Featuring a bedroom and sitting
area, a well-appointed bathroom with sliding glass doors that open to a private deck, each of
the 19 bures delivers on impeccable design with exotic furnishings and linens, king beds, and a
refreshment center where morning tea and coffee can be prepared and enjoyed on your private
deck.
Garden Tropical
Sprinkled throughout the lush and tropical gardens of Namale, the four Garden Tropical Bures possess utmost privacy and natural beauty. With a generously appointed shower for two, the area
extends to a private deck surrounded by lush native flora and fauna. Quality appointments include

Ocean Tropical
On the lush grounds of Namale, the five Ocean Tropical Bures summon privacy, romance and

Honeymoon

Duavata & Civa
These two villas sit perched on volcanic uplifts with bird’s-eye views of the Koro Sea. More than
2,000 square feet, each is comprised of seven separate bures with the main bedroom extending
into a private lounge that opens to the sea.
Each bure has a shower and bath area with private tub — excellent before taking in the sun
and scenery on your lover’s balcony! In another wing, discover a dining area that converts
into another bedroom complete with luggage storage, minibar and generously appointed
indoor and outdoor showers. From there, visit a romantic lookout nook perched above the

THE CULTURE AT NAMALE

goodbye to cookie-cutter resort culture; the customs of Fiji are vibrant within and around the

The Kava Yaqone Ceremony is hugely popular among our guests. Named for the pulverized
root of a pepper plant, kava, or yaqona, the drink is consumed during a variety of Fijian rituals:
for welcoming visitors, sealing business deals, casting spells, or, most often, simply relaxing
among friends. As guests at Namale, you can expect to be one of the first to drink it as a
gesture of appreciation by the staff.
On Saturdays, the market in Savusavu is an explosion of sights, smells and tastes. Freshpicked tropical fruits like papayas and guavas are stacked in abundance beside handicrafts
made by highland artisans, including sarongs (sulus), sculptures, tapestries, pure coconut oil
and jewelry. Many of these treasures, like the meticulously woven fans, are found only in
this special part of Fiji.
Storytelling is paramount in Fijian culture. Once a week, a meke—a troupe of tribal dancers,
musicians and storytellers dressed in traditional costumes of including grass skirts, spears
and necklaces woven of plumeria—visits Namale. Beneath a canopy of stars, guests
