POLITICAL TERRORISM AND THE U.S. EMPIRE FEB. 24 3:30-5:00 PM DUHME LIVING ROOM Achin Vanaik is a retired Professor of International Relations and Global Politics at the University of Delhi. His books span a wide range of issues, including Indian politics, left-wing politics, terrorism, foreign policy and nuclear disarmament. They include The Painful Transition: Bourgeois Democracy in India and The Furies of Indian Communalism both published by Verso, (with Praful Bidwai) South Asia on a Short Fuse (Oxford University Press) and India in a Changing World (Orient Longman). He was the series editor for the recent ICSSR Research and Explorations in Political Science brought out by OUP India. His most recent collection of essays on nuclear India is forthcoming with Orient Blackswan. His articles have appeared in New Left Review, Economic and Political Weekly and numerous other journals and newspapers. He has also been active in a range of social movements and policy organisations including Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace (CNDP), Greenpeace India and the Transnational Institute.
