 WATCH YOUR SPEED
We are asking AGAIN for ALL residents and guests to watch their speed on the property. We
have speed limit signs posted for a reason! We are considering adding speed bumps or Stop
signs to help with the excessive speeds. We hope that we do not have to do this as this property
was built in 2001 and we have never had this type of issue before. Please take care of your
community and the residents that live here by SLOWING DOWN!

We hope that you all enjoyed our Breakfast at the Curb. Chick A– Filet donated 75 breakfast
sandwiches and ALL were passed out. We also had other goodies but the breakfast sandwiches
were clearly the best! Having the cow on site again was a huge hit for residents and those that
passed by in vehicles! We got lots of waves and horn blowing!

Charleston Pines loves to treat our residents to Kona Ice. That was the last day of school so many
were able to enjoy that cool treat! We look to offer it again at our annual pool party. Keep a look
out for a flyer on the date and time.

TOP FIVE FUN RUNS
Have you ever wanted to participate in a 5k race but have been apprehensive or even
intimidated by serious runners? Or maybe you run on a regular basis but just want to shake
up your routine. Well, now’s the perfect time to run, bounce, dance, crawl, and get muddy
with your next race as themed courses are increasing in popularity throughout the U.S. With
no running experience required, and a fun, non-intimidating atmosphere, every participant
will have a great time completing their course.
Here are five fun runs that are growing
in popularity across the country.
Insane
Inflatable 5K
race is a child’s
dream come
true, only it
was designed
for adults!
Bounce, climb,
and slide your
way through about a dozen inflated
obstacles throughout the run.
While there is no age requirement,
participants must be at least 42” tall
to run this course. Check out their
website at insaneinflatable5k.com
for more information.
The Color
Run is a wildly
popular run that
calls itself the
“Happiest 5k on
the Planet.” The
Color Run offers
fun and fitness
for the whole
family, hosting events in over 200
cities worldwide! Each runner begins
the race wearing white clothing and,
as they pass through each kilometer,
they are doused with a different
color of powder. The race ends with
an exciting (and colorful) dance
party! Go to thecolorrun.com to find
an event near you.
Dirty Girl Mud Run
and obstacle course was
designed for fierce ladies
who don’t mind getting
muddy as they run, jump,
climb, and laugh their way
to the finish line. Check out
godirtygirl.com for more
details!
Electric Run is known
as “the race where you
dance more than run”
and is sure to delight
runners of all ages. This
event is held at night and
runners are given their
own Electroband, an
illuminating LED bracelet
that syncs with the music and other runners
throughout the event, which makes runners a part
of the show from the beginning to the finish line.
Electricrun.com has more information.
R.O.C. Race (Ridiculous
Obstacle Challenge) is
similar to the hit television
show, “Wipeout”, and
includes “larger-thanlife obstacles” such as
wrecking balls, a foam
pit, and a four-story-tall
waterslide that runs straight
to the finish line. Participants must be 13 years of
age or older. Check out rocrace.com for details.

INGREDIENTS
1 roll (16.5 ounces) refrigerated
sugar cookie dough, softened
1 package (8 ounces) cream
cheese, softened
¼ cup sugar
½ teaspoon almond extract
Juice of ½ lemon
Fruit for decorating: bananas,
strawberries, blueberries
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350
degrees. Using your fingers,
press softened cookie dough
evenly into the bottom of an
ungreased 12-inch pizza pan
and bake for 15 to 18 minutes
or until golden. Remove
from the oven and cool
completely.
2. Using an electric mixer on
medium speed, beat the
cream cheese, sugar, almond
extract, and 1 teaspoon of
lemon juice until smooth.
Spread the frosting mixture
over the cooled crust.
3. Prepare the fruit by washing
and drying the berries. Hull
and slice the strawberries in
half. Slice the bananas into
rounds and carefully toss in
lemon juice until coated (this
will keep them from browning).
Decorate the top of the fruit
tart to resemble an American
flag, as shown. Refrigerate until
you serve. Yield: 12 slices

DIY UPCYCLED PALLET FLAG
Use an upcycled wood pallet to create a patriotic piece
of art for your home.
MATERIALS
Wood Pallet
Sandpaper
Red, white, and blue paints
(test-size cans or craft paint)
Large paint brush
Clear paint sealer
Metal star (craft store or
hobbylobby.com)
Glue suitable for metal and
wood, such as Gorilla Glue®
DIRECTIONS
Lay the wooden pallet on a drop cloth to prepare it for
painting. Carefully remove any nails or screws that are
sticking out and sand down any rough edges. Paint the
pallet according to the picture, alternating red and white
stripes, and a blue square section on the top left side.
Allow the pallet to dry. If you are seeking a more rustic
look, you can rough up the paint a bit with sandpaper,
particularly on the corners and edges. Seal the pallet
with paint sealer if you plan to display it outside. When it
is completely dry, use glue to attach the star. Place your
pallet art on a table, leaning against the wall, or outside
on your patio. It also makes a great gift!
