Book online @ www.stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk | 05 Profile ON IN 5 PRODUCTIONS A new company bringing rarely performed plays to Lefel 1 On In 5 Productions is a brand new Company seeking to put on plays that people have not heard of or seen...or at least ones that are not done that often! Producer, Phil Roberts, wanted to move away from plays that we have all seen on many occasions, however much we love all the “great” plays. The Company is based in Cardiff as Phil moved there in 2010 and has embraced the Welsh spirit. “There is such a wealth of theatre and television now being produced in Wales which is fantastic to be a part of.” The Company also supports local charities, choosing a different one with each production. Their latest production is Harold Pinter’s Betrayal. Written in 1978, it was critically 06 | Box Office 029 2087 8444 regarded as one of the English playwright's major dramatic works and features his characteristically economical dialogue, hidden emotions, veiled motivations and self-absorbed competitive one-upmanship, face-saving, dishonesty and self-deceptions. It was inspired by Pinter’s own clandestine extramarital affair with BBC Television presenter Joan Bakewell, which spanned seven years. The ‘Betrayal’ structure strips away all artifice. It shows, heartlessly, that the very capacity for love itself is sometimes based on betraying not only other loved ones, but even ourselves. You can see Harold Pinter’s Betrayal 3-5 March at 7.30pm, tickets £15.00. http://philippaburt.wix.com/on-in-5productions#!current-production/cb3i Profile The UK’s leading Bushcraft expert, survivalist, author and TV presenter, Ray Mears, brings a fascinating live show to the Hall in March. The show is for fans of Ray’s hugely popular TV shows or anyone with an interest in the great outdoors – those who may wonder how they would cope faced by seemingly impossible odds. Ray will shock and amaze audiences with inspirational stories of how humans have overcome some incredible circumstances to survive. He describes the extraordinary abilities our species has in terms of ingenuity, adaptability and sheer determination and discusses how these can be accessed in a crisis. Through carefully selected stories he explores what it takes to be a true survivor. ‘Our ability to find humour in times of adversity and to motivate ourselves by focusing on returning to our loved ones is astonishingly powerful. Stripped bare by adversity, survivors cling to the most fundamental emotions, instincts and human qualities. This in its own way can be an instructional guide to living outside of adversity.’ Ray Mears You can hear Ray Mears’ inspirational tales of endurance on Wednesday 16 March (7.30pm). Tickets are £21.50 for adults, £15.00 for children and £68.00 for a family of 4 – 2 adults & 2 children (plus a Ticket Service Charge of £2.95 per transaction).
