Sign up soon because space will be limited. $25 for the day, includes lunch Saturday, January 19th @ 10:30am-2:30pm Journal Quilts- Deconstructed Crazy Quilts with Leona Manke $15 Journal quilts are opportunities to stretch quilt skills by trying new methods and experimenting with color, composition, materials, and techniques. The small size (9”x12” more or less) encourages using small pieces of fabric and finishing the project within a reasonable amount of time-even an afternoon. A deconstructed crazy quilt takes the elements of a traditional crazy quilt, expands the concept and creates a new whole. For all adventurous quilters. 3rd Monday January 21st @ 10:30am – 1:00pm Wonder Blocks with Helen Goerke $20 Stack, cut and sew blocks are great for beginners while the design possibilities are interesting enough for all level of quilters. 810 fat quarters and border fabrics will make a quilt approximately 60” square using 6” blocks with squares and rectangles. A fun, fast and easy quilt! Blocks can be made in sizes from 3” to 12” for wall hanging, lounge or bed quilts. Saturday, January 26th @ 10am-3pm 5 Saturday, February 23rd 10am - 3pm Learn how to make a wrap bowl using 1 ½” strips of fabric with clothesline to create a one of a kind bowl. This class will also include a variety of ways to embellish your bowl. It’s good to have basic sewing knowledge. Classes paid by Credit or Debit Card will have a $2 surcharge added to cover processing fees. $15 Rag quilts are soft and cuddly and they make excellent lap quilts for a chilly day. They make great gifts for kids or adults. This quilt goes together quickly and without the stress of sewing absolutely perfect seams. You can finish a rag quick in a day or so depending on the size. Monday, January 28th @ 10:00am-1:00pm or 6:30-9:00pm Paper Piecing with Marilyn Shake $10 Learn the basics of paper piecing during this class by making trees and flying geese. Great for the beginner paper piecer. Wednesday, January 30th @ 1pm or 6pm Intro to Machine Appliqué with Marilyn Shake $10 During this class you will explore the basics of machine appliqué using different programmed stitches on your machine as well as free motion stitches. You will work on a small project that uses these techniques. Beginner Tuesday, February 5th @ 1:00pm or 6:00pm Stars and Squares Sampler II with Sharon Boatman $65 for 7 classes This class will make 6 blocks. Featherweight Maintenance Class Saturday, March 23 All Day Learn how to take care of and service your Singer Featherweight sewing machines. For advanced quilters 1st Thursday February - August Starts Thursday, February 7 @ from 1-4pm Quilt Basics with Marilyn Shake $25 Creative Stitches, Needles & Thread with Gail Allen $15 During this class we will cover a variety of topics on quilt making. By the end of the class you will complete a mini quilt that includes everything you have learned in class. We will start from the very beginning and learn how to… select equipment and use them properly, select fabric including color choices, get that perfect quarter inch seam, piece a quilt block, add borders, baste layers before quilting, machine quilt, bind your quilt, make a label and attach to quilt. 3 sessions Thursday, February 7th, 21st, and March 7th @ 6pm Learn about the thread “maze” and how fabric reacts. Let’s talk needles and “Window Art.” There will be many samples including the stitch to make your work look great. Friday, February 8th @ 1:00-3:30pm Round Robin with Marilyn Shake $25 Round robin quilts are made by a group of three to six quilters who each have a piece of a quilt to sew. Quilter’s choose individual blocks or borders and add on to the previous quilter’s work, creating a round robin quilt. 5 sessions 2nd Friday, February 8, March 8, April 12, May 10, and June 14 @ 5:30pm 7 Pick up your next block, or sign up for a new one, and receive 10% off any blocks your purchase that day. Unique cutting technique produces a wonderful kaleidoscope effect. 2 sessions Mondays, February 11th & 25th @ 10:30am -1:00pm or 6:30-9:00pm Big Block Quilt with Helen Goerke $25 includes pattern A quilt pattern suitable for beginners but appealing to all skill levels. The quilt design uses those large scale fabrics that are so easy to buy but can be hard to cut and use in patchwork quilting. Learn a partial or half-seam block technique to construct this quilt without set-in seams. Design ideas will be presented in class for additional borders. Quilt finishes at 60” square without borders. Borders can be added to create a larger quilt. Saturday, February 16th @ 10:00am-3:00pm Journal Quilts- Lutrador I- Applying Background with Leona Manke $15 Journal quilts are opportunities to stretch quilt skills by trying new methods and experimenting with color, composition, materials and techniques. The small size encourages using small pieces of fabric and finishing the project within a reasonable amount of time- even an afternoon. Lutrador is a spunbonded synthetic fiber. It has a texture like paper and can be used like fabric, but doesn’t rip. Try Helen’s original instructions inspired by Marilyn Doheny’s book “Bargello Tapestry Quilts” using a striped border print to create your own unique quilt that sings with motion and color. Machine Quilting on Your Home Machine with Marilyn Shake $15 During this class you will explore various ways to quilt small projects at home on your sewing machine. You will work on a small sampler project that uses these techniques. Tuesday, March 5th @ 1:00pm or 6:00pm Embroidery Sampler with Marilyn Shake $20 During this class you will learn how to do a variety of embroidery stitches by completing a sampler in either redwork or by using a variety of colors. Kits will be available for purchase. 2 sessions Tuesday, March 12th & 19th @ 1:00pm or 6:00pm In The Next Issue... $20 These are easy quilts, very beginner friendly, but also fun for more experience quilters. The quilts can be made any size using square, rectangles, and strip pieced 9-patch blocks featuring large scale prints or panels and 3 coordinating fabrics. The design possibilities are endless and make great baby quilts, wall hanging, lounge or bed quilts.
