1. Contacts
The offices of the IEA’s International Partnerships and Initiatives Unit (IPI) and Energy
Technology Policy (ETP) Division have compiled this Logistical Information document to assist
participants with organising their travel and stay in France. At any time prior to your arrival in
France, please direct enquiries regarding logistical issues to the IEA team.

2. Passport and Visa
Participants will need to have with them a valid passport to enter into France. Participants
may also require a visa – this should be checked with the French embassy or consular office
in the participant’s country. Participants are responsible for all arrangements and costs for
their visa.
We will send a personalised invitation letter to each participant requiring a visa, which
should be sufficient documentation for their application.
3. Schedule of the event and registration
The event will take place at IEA headquarters on Tuesday 15 December from 9h00 to 17h30
and Wednesday 16 December from 9h00 to 17h30.
Participants are recommended to arrive at 08h45 to complete the registration process. The
IEA will register all participants in advance; however participants must bring a photo ID to
collect their badge at the reception desk prior to the start of the workshop.

4. Hotel Accommodation
Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation in Paris. For convenience
and safety, we provide a list of hotels which are generally within walking distance of the IEA
Headquarters and some benefit from a special OECD/IEA rate. We suggest that you contact
the hotel directly to verify the applicable rates and any other relevant information directly
with the hotel.
You can also check/book through the internet, e.g. www.expedia.com; www.booking.com.
Please note that two and three star hotels are normally comfortable, but modest. Demand for
hotel rooms is constantly high in Paris and therefore, we highly recommend that participants
book their accommodation as early as possible. Please note that in most cases a credit card
will be required to book a hotel room.

6. How to get to the IEA
The IEA is located not far from the Eiffel Tower (see map below).

By Metro– cost per ticket: 1.80 euros, cost for a carnet of 10 tickets: 14.10 euros.
The closest metro station is Bir‐Hakeim on Line 6 (see route map below). When you come out
of the metro station (on Boulevard Grenelle), make your way towards the Eiffel Tower
following the river - rue de la Fédération is the first street on your right (there is a Japanese
shop on the corner). As you walk down rue de la Fédération, the IEA is in the first building on
the left with steps leading down to the main entrance.

7. How to get from the airport to central Paris
Paris has two international airports: Charles de Gaulle and Orly. More detailed information
on both of these airports can be found at www.aeroportsdeparis.fr
By Taxi
The simplest and most convenient way to travel to the centre of Paris is by taxi. Taxi ranks
are clearly indicated at the airports and availability is generally good. The typical cost of a
taxi from Charles de Gaulle airport is between 50 – 70 euros.
By Taxi Shuttle Service
A taxi shuttle service (i.e. shared taxi) operates from the airports to central Paris. However,
you need to make a booking at least two days in advance, either on-line at www.paris-blueairport-shuttle.fr or by telephone on +33 (0) 1 30 111 300 (everyday from 06h30 to 23h00
Paris time). The average cost for a one way fare is 25 - 30 euros, however reduced rates
apply when more than one passenger is sharing the trip. Full details of rates can be found
via the website.

From Charles De Gaulle Airport By Train: RER (Réseau Express Régional)
From Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG), first follow the signs for train/rail connections. There
are train stations directly linked to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. A shuttle bus service connects
all terminals. Once at the train station, follow signs for "Trains to Paris" or RER B. Take the
train to Paris station St Michel-Notre Dame.
Travel time: 25 - 35 minutes; departures every 10-15 minutes.
Cost: 9.75 euros one way.
Tickets are available from a ticket assistant at the booth or from a ticket machine.
Accepted payment: credit cards, euro coins or euro notes.

From Orly Airport By Train: Orlyval
At Orly, there are train stations directly linked to the two terminals Orly Sud and Orly Ouest.
Once at the train station, follow signs for Orlyval. Orlyval will take you to Anthony station
where you can catch the RER B towards Paris.
Travel time: 35 minutes; departures every 5 - 15 minutes.
Cost: 9.30 euros one way.

Option 1. Roissybus / Orlybus
Roissybus is a special bus service that links the Charles de Gaulle airport and "Opera", in Paris;
departures every 15 - 30 minutes. .
Travel time: between 45 and 60 minutes
