Get some Sol!
“Sol’Jibe proved itself one of the hardest working and most delightful
new finds at the [High Sierra Music] fest by lending it’s world beats
and Latin rhythms to two different stages during the course of the
day, winning new fans every time it played.”
— Honest Tune: The American Journal of Jam & Roots
“Sol’Jibe — Take Rusted Root, Santana and Phish, add a dash of
flamenco music and a smidgen of jazz, bake in a Spanish adobe
kiln, and this band’s music will come out. Piping hot. These guys are
working to redefine the very nomenclature of a ‘jam band.’”
— The Oregonian
“Do not write these guys off just because they are a world music
jam-band from Reno; they are actually really good, quite ambitious,
and very strongly supported in many Western cities.”
— PopMatters
“A worldly blend of flamenco, jazz, and rock full of energy and
passion that unfortunately seems hard to find these days. I saw
Sol’Jibe play several months ago and was astounded. Their sound
is full, well rounded, and has convinced me that I, too, need to go
kick it with the Gypsies in Spain. ¡Muchas gracias, amigos!”
— Boulder Weekly
“Sol’Jibe blends world-music influences, soulful vocals, and dazzling flamenco-guitar and
violin work into a powerful, groove-filled cocktail. The band is building a nice little wave
of momentum thanks to the infectious energy of its live performances and the strength of its
latest release.”
— Idaho Press-Tribune
“Combining various ethnic instrumental styles with a contemporary acoustic-rock/jam-band
aesthetic, the members of Sol’Jibe are all impressive, talented players.”
— Reno News & Review
“Sol’Jibe are well versed in the world of music, pulling influences from flamenco, acoustic
jams and other original beats created by a group of amazing musicians.”
— FreeHeelLife.com
“Sol’Jibe soaks their sound in multiple nationalities and musical genres, but their flavor
transcends borders and tastes — it’s just foot-stompin’, soul-stirrin’ goodness.”
— Reno Gazette-Journal
“Tim Snider, who doubles as the band’s lead singer, possesses a breathy, beautiful baritone
voice, which he employs only sparingly in the band’s music. It’s a testament to the group’s
bountiful musical talents that such a voice can take a back seat without being missed
during the long,
meandering
instrumental
journeys that
form the soul of
Sol’Jibe’s sound.”

Sol’Jibe’s “New Day” EP
is an intoxicating, effervescent,
and potent cocktail of acoustic
rock and world influences.
On New Day, Sol’Jibe’s third CD, the band
continues to refine its unique blend of rock,
roots, Latin music, jazz, and world rhythms
that’s perhaps best described as Dave
Matthews and Jack Johnson meet the
Afro-Cuban All Stars.
The first studio recordings that come close to
capturing the energy of Sol’Jibe’s transcendent
live shows, New Day was inspired by a
month-long odyssey to Cuba where they
studied at the National School of Music in
Havana. Filled with myriad hooks, the new
disc is getting played extensively on dozens
of college and Internet radio stations like
AccuRadio.com and Live365.com, as well
as XM Satellite Radio.
Sol’Jibe’s sound is driven by the expressive
vocals and violin of Tim Snider, who began
playing classical violin at age three and later
trekked to southern Spain to study music with
the Gypsies. Bassist Fernando “El Nando”
Flores, drummer Caleb “Escandelo” Dolister,
multi-instrumentalist Justin “JK” Kruger, pianist
Joel “J” Cowell, and saxophonists Jonathan
Phillips and Jimmy Hoover round out Sol’Jibe’s
fresh, distinctive sound that’s resonating with a
growing legion of fans.

There’s more to the Biggest Little City in the World than empty wallets
and cheap hotel rooms — especially if you like your rock jams blended with roots music,
electric violin, world rhythms, and picante Latin zest. Founded in Reno, Nevada, in 2002,
Sol’Jibe is independently gaining national exposure and winning over fans wherever
they play their intoxicating, effervescent “world rock for the Gypsy soul.” Fans young
and old and everywhere in between from throughout the western U.S. have purchased
upwards of 20,000 copies of Sol’Jibe’s first two albums, “On Your Feet” and “Marinero,”
and sales of the band’s most recent effort — an EP titled “New Day” — are quickly
surpassing previous efforts. “New Day” is also getting played extensively on dozens of
college and Internet radio stations like AccuRadio.com and Live365.com, as well as XM
Satellite Radio. Voted Reno’s best band from 2005-2008 by readers of the Reno GazetteJournal and 2006-2008 by the Reno News & Review, Sol’Jibe won Harrah’s “Search for the
Stars” competition and is on regular rotation on its hometown Triple-A radio station
100.1 The X (KTHX-FM).
Sol’Jibe’s sound — often described as the Dave Matthews Band meets the Afro-Cuban All
Stars — is driven by the expressive vocals and violin of Tim Snider. Tim, who began playing
classical violin at the age of three, longed to immerse himself in the music of other cultures.
After graduating from high school he trekked to southern Spain to study music with the
Gypsies, honing his skills and enriching his style. He returned home and started a band with
a distinct sound that can only be described as Sol’Jibe, and the group has toured relentlessly
ever since, staging upwards of 200 concerts and clinics annually. Sol’Jibe’s growing reputation
for musical innovation also reflects the talents of a half-dozen other diverse, extraordinary
musicians: bassist Fernando “El Nando” Flores, pianist Joel “J” Cowell, drummer Caleb
“Escandalo” Dolister, multi-instrumentalist Justin “JK” Kruger, and saxophonists Jonathan
Phillips and Jimmy Hoover.
Consistently performing to full houses, Sol’Jibe maintains a strong sense of purpose for
themselves as musicians. Their goal is to explore different cultures and styles of music
around the world and return home to share their experiences with others through their art.
In pursuit of this dream, the band has traveled extensively throughout Central America and
the Caribbean, plus it completed an intensive, three-week residency at the National School
of Music in Havana, Cuba, in 2004. Since its return, the band has encouraged children and
young adults to expand their cultural horizons via music by conducting concerts and clinics
at upwards of 100 K-12 schools and universities in Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington,
Idaho, and Montana.
Sol’Jibe is sharing that vision with a growing legion of fans, making its major festival debut
at the 2007 High Sierra Music Fest . The following summer saw them playing on the main
stage at High Sierra, as well as performing at a half-dozen other big fests, including the
Spring Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival in North Carolina, the Joshua Tree Music Festival
and Lightning In A Bottle in Southern California, and Earthdance in Northern California. The
band also performed at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, in 2005 and 2006, and
headlined community concert series in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and
Washington. Sol’Jibe also has opened for such national acts as Michael McDonald (at Red
Rocks Amphitheater), Michael Franti and Spearhead, Robert Randolph and the Family Band,
New Monsoon, Steel Pulse, Grupo Fantasma, Eric McFadden, David Lindley, and Dave Koz.
Sol’Jibe’s dream of fusing diverse world-music influences with a unique blend of American rock
is taking them to new heights, and it’s only a matter of time before the masses take notice.
Community Arts, Education, Festival
& Resort Engagements with
The Reno-based band Sol’Jibe is one of the West’s most exciting and original emerging
acts. Their upbeat and often socially conscious lyrics and signature blend of acoustic
rock, Latin music, jazz, and world rhythms make for family friendly shows that appeal to
a wide array of audiences and age groups.
Sol’Jibe’s music creates an urge to dance that is nigh irresistible and takes audiences
on a captivating, uplifting journey that explores an array of ethnic musical styles and
integrates them with American roots, rock, and pop music. Staging upwards of 200
concerts and clinics annually, the band has performed to crowds of thousands and in
such prestigious settings as Red Rocks Amphitheatre (where they opened for Michael
McDonald) and the main stage of the High Sierra Music Festival.
Educational outreach
Regardless of what you call such educational events — residencies, clinics, workshops,
or what have you — Sol’Jibe has a great deal of experience conducting them, as well
as a growing reputation of musical innovation that reflects the talent of diverse and
gifted musicians.
The band believes ethnic music and music in general is essential to a child’s education.
And with funding for arts education in public schools continually diminishing, the
members of Sol’Jibe feel it is increasingly important for musicians to work with students
to inspire the next generation of performers.
With influences that span from Africa to India and from Latin America to New Orleans,
Sol’Jibe has studied extensively in the U.S. and abroad and offer students a well-rounded
exploration of world music through its
fusion with American music and culture.
Sol’Jibe was born in 2002 when several
of the band’s members met while studying
jazz at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The band also has studied music in
southern Spain (with the Gypsies), Central
America, the Caribbean, and Cuba (at the
National School of Music in Havana).
Sol’Jibe violinist/lead singer Tim Snider delivers a
sizzling solo in 116° F heat at the 2008 Joshua Tree
Music Festival in Southern California.
Sol’Jibe will bring you their knowledge of
roots music, jazz, and Latin, Caribbean,
and Africian music with this energizing
program. Furthermore, the band can
customize educational events to meet your
organization’s specific needs, staging
something as simple as a concert for an
assembly (that can include a Q&A session
with the band) to working directly with
music students (such as having Tim, the
violinist, work with strings students while
the rest of the guys work with the school’s
jazz students).

“Sol’Jibe is enthusiastic, charismatic, and generates an
extraordinary amount of excitement in performance.
We put them in our high schools and had teachers
and students dancing on the gym floor. In 20 years of
doing this job I have never seen that before.”
