Delivering ideas and insights from your natural gas service provider.
The Role You Play in Natural Gas Safety
Oklahoma Natural Gas maintains a large system of underground pipelines that deliver clean, safe and
reliable natural gas to your home or business. We maintain our system through extensive inspections and
monitoring as outlined in our Pipeline Integrity Management program. All of us have a role to play in making
sure that our pipelines and those owned by other companies continue to operate safely. Use your eyes, ears
and nose to stay alert to potential dangers.
RECOGNIZING A NATURAL GAS LEAK
SIGHT: Do you see dirt or water blowing in the air or continuous bubbling from
standing water in the vicinity of a natural gas pipeline? This could be a natural
gas pipeline leak.
SOUND: Listen for a hissing or roaring sound. This can be an indication of a
natural gas pipeline leak.
SMELL: Additives are used to give natural gas a very distinct aroma. Be alert
for a pungent odor that might smell like sulfur or rotten eggs. This unique smell
may be the warning sign of a natural gas pipeline leak.
CALL: If you suspect you’ve discovered a natural gas pipeline leak, leave the
area and avoid doing anything that could create a spark. Warn others to stay
away, and immediately call 911 or Oklahoma Natural Gas at 1-800-458-4251.

Did You Get Your Rebate?
Time is running out for this year’s Oklahoma Natural Gas Energy-Efficiency Program.
And that means you need to act quickly to take advantage of our cash rebates.
We’ve teamed up with Mother Nature to encourage you to make the best
possible energy choices. There are cash rebates for getting your furnace
tuned up and for converting or upgrading to new, high-efficiency natural gas
water heaters and home heating systems.
But funds are limited and the rebates are paid on a first-come, first-served basis. For more
information, program details and application forms, go to www.oklahomanaturalgas.com/rebates.
Mother Nature thanks you…
Average Payment Plan
Available to residential and qualifying commercial customers, the
average payment plan is a great way to manage winter natural gas
bills by spreading the costs over a longer period of time. The bill is
based on a rolling 12-month average, so it will still vary somewhat
month to month. You may sign up for the average payment plan
online at www.oklahomanaturalgas.com.
