Welcome and thank you for attending this year’s Spring Fling.
Our goal this evening is to raise money and celebrate the success of Panther Athletics. Success is intentional,
not accidental, and through countless volunteers and donors who have partnered with the Panther Club, we
know tonight’s success will make an impact on the lives of Panther student-athletes. It is the continual support,
year after year, of the many people who are committed to our successful EIU Athletics program that makes
tonight so special. A winning program distinguishes itself through its student-athletes who demonstrate
integrity and pursue excellence. Below are a few opportunities we have to show our dedication to these young
individuals and the university as a whole.

Thank you to all the wonderful people that have allowed my transition to EIU be a smooth and rewarding experience. I am thrilled
and excited to work and continue to move Panther Athletics in a positive direction where we are providing an experience for our
student-athletes that is second to none, graduating our student-athletes where they are prepared to be successful and providing
them opportunities to compete for championships in their respective sports.
I would personally like to thank everyone for attending this evening’s event. Your support of EIU and specifically our studentathletes is something we all value very much. We continue to strive to create the best experiences for all 21 of our sport programs
and the 450 student-athletes that work hard every day in the classroom and in competition. The help that you provide continues
to allow them to be successful in every way.
Many of our sport programs have had successes in all they do. Specifically, the women’s track and
field team most recently won the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track Championship. Also, the
women’s swimming team was recognized for having the highest GPA in all of Division 1 with a 3.59
team GPA!
This event is not possible without the amazing strong support from the Panther community. The
businesses and individuals who have contributed the many items here this evening, all with the idea of
making Panther Athletics better and stronger is very much appreciated. I have been so impressed with
the many, many individuals that make up our Spring Fling committee. Their commitment and dedication
to make this event better and better each year is amazing. That is what makes EIU so special!

Silent Auction zones will close following the Live Auction upon notification by the auctioneer.
For more information, see the evening’s schedule in the inside front cover of this book.
Please print your bidding number legibly or place your bidding number stickers alongside the
bid amount you wish to bid upon.
Bidding numbers must be written or in the process of being written at the time of the Silent
Auction zone’s closing. The closing bid highlighted by the Spring Fling zone official constitutes
the winning bid. His/her decision is final.

The Live Auction will begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. and will continue without interruption until all
items have been auctioned.
In order to enter a bid in the live auction, the bidder must raise his/her bidding paddle high and
attract the attention of the auctioneer. This action must be repeated each time the bidder initiates
or increases the bid. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay the bid price in full if his/her bid
is deemed the high bid by the auctioneer. The auction will be fast-paced; bids must be made quickly.
Use only the bidding paddle assigned to you to bid. Your bidding number is your identification.

Checkout will open following the Silent Auction upon notification by the auctioneer. Checkout is located in
the EIU Student Recreation Center Dance Studio on the same level as the Lantz Arena court.

Please allow 30 minutes after zone closing for cashier to register winners prior to paying.
Full payment is required on the event night (April 11) and can be paid by cash, check, AMEX, Visa,
Discover, or MasterCard at Checkout. Split payments will not be accepted.
Cashier will provide you with a proof of payment which you will then take to pick up your auction
item(s) at the Silent Auction/Live Auction/Towne Square Jewelers Bling Pong zone(s) where you
bid on the item.
Items may be removed that evening only by exhibiting proof of payment to the zone managers.
All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds except where stated.
A convenience pick-up will be held from 11am – noon on Sunday, April 12, in Lantz Arena. Please
utilize this option if you need to arrange pick-up of larger items. All items must be picked up by
noon unless otherwise arranged at Checkout.
If you need an item delivered or stored temporarily, please make arrangements at checkout.
For a fee, items can be shipped to your home.

Award
Bob Jones has positively impacted Panther student-athletes through
his support of Eastern Illinois University and our athletics program.
He earned his Bachelors of Science in Business in 1967 and his wife
Judy, earned her degree in Education in 1968, both from Eastern
Illinois University. They have two children, Garth and Tyler, and two
grandchildren, Joselynn and Reese.
Bob also served his country from 1967-69 as a member of the U.S.
Army, including a tour in Vietnam. In his professional life, Bob was
extremely successful in careers in both banking and insurance.
Currently, he is the owner of Marketing by Jones, LLC.
As a Mattoon native, Bob has been instrumental in fostering a
relationship between EIU and the Mattoon Golf & Country Club that
has reaped countless benefits to our university. Moreover, Bob has
helped build relationships between other members of the Mattoon
community and Eastern Illinois Athletics.
He continues to offer his financial support as a member of the
Panther Club. Bob has been instrumental as a key donor in
facilitating enhancements in Lantz Arena and helping the Panther
Club and EIU Athletics in the community by always promoting and
advocating on behalf of our student-athletes.
