Are you a caregiver for
someone with Alzheimer’s
disease or a related dementia? Are you someone
struggling with the disease? Either way we know
that stress is a large component of those caring or
living with the disease.
The Alzheimer’s Association Rochester & Finger
Lakes Region sends a dedicated masters-level social
work counselor to the
ProAction Yates Office for
the Aging twice a month.
Persons in the early
stage of dementia and/or
their family members or
caregivers are invited to
schedule an appointment.
The goal of this counseling
is to improve quality of life
and help families navigate
the journey of Alzheimer’s
disease and other dementias. The counseling
session will help identify
the greatest area of concern or need, de-stressing
strategies, problem solving, education about the
disease, and referral to
other appropriate agencies.Don’t continue this
journey alone. There is

Cats for seniors
The Humane Society of
Yates County has received
a grant from the Joe and
Sue DeGeorge Foundation
to help pair senior citizens
with senior cats. Approved
seniors can adopt an adult
cat, one year or older for
no fee. These cats are
healthy, they are current
on all immunizations and
they have been spayed or

help veterans too
The Penn Yan Kiwanis
Club’s project of knitting
and crocheting hats for
kids and babies in area
