Our aim is to promote and encourage participation at all levels with emphasis on amateur and student creativity in the arts 2011 Theme: “A Blast from the Past” General Rules & Guidelines 1. 2. 3. Please refer to Showcase of Arts General Rules & Guidelines for important rules, entry deadlines, etc. No nudes please. Items must have been completed within the past 3 years and not previously entered for competition in the Saskatoon Exhibition Showcase of Arts 4. All work must be done by the entrant. If completed by two or more people, it must be described as “collaborative” with the names of participants listed. 5. Original design: Entry to be completely the creation of the exhibitor, or modified so that 75% of the project originates with the exhibitor. Please include a design sheet with a short explanation of the origin and crafting of the entry. 6. A completed entry form must accompany entries. 7. Entries will be classified by committee. Give description of article on entry form. 8. No unfinished, soiled or previously used items will be accepted for competition. 9. All framed work must be wired. No strings or saw tooth hangers will be accepted. 10. Must have a minimum of 10 pieces entered per section to be judged for monetary prizes. Divisions: Division A: Adult - amateur who engages in their craft as a hobby, not as a profession or continuing source of income Division B: Children and Youth - 17 years & under Division P: Professional (not eligible to compete for Best of Show or Theme) Secti ons: Entries in each section will be categorized into similar classes for judging. SECTION I: KNITTING & CROCHET Any knitted or crochet item to wear or for the home. This will include original design (see Rules & Guidelines). * Special Project: Knit or crochet scarf. SECTION II: QUILTING Any quilted item, including wearable art. This will include original design (see Rules & Guidelines). SECTION III: SEWING Any sewn garment or item for the home including, and not limited to, purses, totes, cloth dolls and doll clothing. SECTION IV: STITCHERY Any hand embroidery technique. This will include original design (see Rules & Guidelines) SECTION V: RUGS This section will include all latch hook, rag, braided, crocheted, or traditional hooked rugs. This will include original design (see Rules & Guidelines). SECTION VI: PAPER CREATIONS Any item made of paper, including, and not limited to, orgami, scrapbooking (single page only) and handmade cards. SECTION VII: MISCELLANEOUS Any item not covered above, including but not limited to, creative recycling (please attach a descriptive note), basketry, glass etching, beading, stained glass, candles, pottery, teddy bears, woodworking and dolls. THEME CLASS “A Blast from the Past” Awards: BEST OF SHOW receives award and $50 prize money. Presented by Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation. CLASS AWARDS Winners of the Class Awards are judged for Section Awards and $25 cash. Section winners are then judged for “Best of Show”. THEME CLASS AWARD Winner receives ribbon and $50 cash award. Presented by Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation. COMMITTEE AWARD Award selected by Creative Arts Committee. Winner receives ribbon and $50 cash award. OPEN/PROFESSIONAL Ribbon and $50 cash award. 2011 Creative Arts Award presenters: Saskatoon Quilters’ Guild - $100 cash award Bridge City Needle Arts Guild Award - Original design in Needlework - $50 cash award Yesterday’s Memories - $25 cash award in Paper Creations. The winning entry will be awarded $500 cash and may be featured in our advertising material.
