From these humble beginnings, the club has grown to over 200 active members with teams competing around the world in all divisions making the Mooloolaba Outrigger Canoe Club one of Australia’s largest and strongest. Members come from Brisbane to Noosa and the club has a very successful novice programme to attract new members. In October 2013, Mooloolaba OCC was the first club in Australia to launch the NO LIMITS program for adaptive paddlers, giving people with physical disabilities the opportunity to train and race outrigger canoes at club, state, national and international levels. The national NO LIMITS program is also based at Mooloolaba Outrigger Canoe Club and supported by researchers at the University of the Sunshine Coast. In just four months of training, two NO LIMITS crews (12 people with physical disabilities) qualified to represent Australia at the 2014 World Sprints in Rio. “ The MOCC club is also immensely proud of the amount of junior members it has attracted who represent 35% of the total club membership. This success has been driven by a 5 year plan of recruiting and coaching under the direction of Australia’s most experienced paddlers and coaches. “ The future of the NO LIMITS program and sport here in Mooloolaba is in the hands of the national coordinator and coach Dr Gayle Mayes and an experienced steering committee. The paddlers have enjoyed success at every race event and considerable media coverage. Like you - We are achievers!
