s e r u t n e V e t Vet s of the Bay Car Club te et rv Co e th of r te et sl The New JULY 2014 MAILING ADDRESS: Corvettes of the Bay P.O. Box 13122 Green Bay, WI 54307-3122 WEBSITE: www.corvettesofthebay.org MEETINGS: First Tuesday of the Month 8:00pm Wally’s Spot Supper Club NEXT MEETING: August 5, 2014 8:00pm CLUB MEMBERS, To start off this month’s letter, I would like to thank all of the volunteers and car show participants. We raised a nice chunk of money for Disabled American Veterans Transportation Fund of Green Bay. We had great weather and a great crowd of proud Corvette owners showing their cars. Rocker put on a great performance and everyone that I spoke to had a real enjoyable time. We also signed a few new members to the club, welcome to the newbies, I hope you take the time to get involved in YOUR club and make it even better. I have decided for next year’s Wally’s Cruise-In to make the ballot and show portion back to basics, with a flat $5 admission to members and $10 to non-members and have all the spectators and car show people make their votes via a 1st/2nd/3rd place vote so all cars are on the same level with the car collecting the most votes being hailed BEST OF SHOW, then we will place out 6 more places. This will make our judge scoring much easier and more fun for spectators to handle most of the judging. Look to the website and Facebook page for upcoming events and special runs, some of which get planned very quickly. You can also plan a run of your own by sending info to the club’s webmaster Gerard Rajek or any other board member or placing it yourself on Facebook site. IN THIS ISSUE! I look forward to a great summer of Corvettes and friends! Mitch parked cars and had a great time. The event brought in approximately 100 Corvettes. Mitch also reminded all members how important volunteering is as a club member. Just try it once; you meet new members and have a great time helping out the club. Wendy Cropsey announced that there will be some changes for the annual show next year in regards to voting for best cars from the top six spectator votes. This is a club event so any and all donations from club members are appreciated. Discussion was held regarding the possibility of changing the date of the show as it is held the same weekend as the “Back to the 50’s” show in Minnesota, and also “Bloomington Gold” show in Illinois. The SAN was designed to remove legislative threats to the automotive hobby and pass favorable laws. Dan has written articles in the newsletter about SEMA projects before. During the Power Tour, Dan stopped at the SAN booth and learned two new things he wanted to share with the club. 1. As an automotive enthusiast, you can and should become a member. It is very easy - visit semasan.com and click the "Enlist Here" link. Dan is a member and said they don't bombard you with things. They just occasionally e-mail you about the battles they are fighting, or the successes they have had. Sometimes they ask you to sign a petition. 2. SEMA has facilitated the formation of the State Automotive Enthusiast Leadership Caucus. This consists of state legislators around the country with the common goal of supporting the automotive hobby. In Wisconsin, the members include Senator Glenn Grothman, Senator Mary Lazich, and Representatives Ed Brooks, Andre Jacque, Steve Kestell, Bob Kulp, John Nygren, and Michael Schraa. If you are interested enough in cars to be in a car club, you will find enlisting in SAN to be worthwhile and informative. Please visit semasan.com today! Keep your head up and the peddle down!
