MEETINGS:
First Tuesday
of the Month
8:00pm
Wally’s Spot Supper Club
NEXT MEETING:
August 5, 2014
8:00pm
CLUB MEMBERS,
To start off this month’s letter, I would like to thank all of the
volunteers and car show participants. We raised a nice chunk
of money for Disabled American Veterans Transportation
Fund of Green Bay. We had great weather and a great crowd
of proud Corvette owners showing their cars. Rocker put on a
great performance and everyone that I spoke to had a real
enjoyable time. We also signed a few new members to the
club, welcome to the newbies, I hope you take the time to get
involved in YOUR club and make it even better.
I have decided for next year’s Wally’s Cruise-In to make the ballot and show portion
back to basics, with a flat $5 admission to members and $10 to non-members and
have all the spectators and car show people make their votes via a 1st/2nd/3rd place
vote so all cars are on the same level with the car collecting the most votes being
hailed BEST OF SHOW, then we will place out 6 more places. This will make our
judge scoring much easier and more fun for spectators to handle most of the judging.
Look to the website and Facebook page for upcoming events and special runs, some
of which get planned very quickly. You can also plan a run of your own by sending
info to the club’s webmaster Gerard Rajek or any other
board member or placing it yourself on Facebook site.
IN THIS ISSUE!
I look forward to a great summer of Corvettes and
friends!

Monthly Meeting Minutes - July 1, 2014
Vice President Dan Terrien called the meeting to order at 8:06 pm at Wally’s Spot with 50 members present. President Mike Cropsey was
absent. Dan asked that all cell phones be turned off during the meeting, and mentioned that the previous meeting’s minutes were on the
back side of the agenda. Any corrections should be reported to any officer.
New Members: Dan and Vickie Linssen, 2000 Corvette, and Paul Orlich/Debbie Barnes, 2004 Corvette.
New Cars or Project Cars: Tom Harrison announced the purchase of a 2011 Grand Sport. Congratulations, Tom!!
June Dinner Run: Gary Paul reported that 7 cars were present for the run to the Black Otter Supper Club in Hortonville, WI. It was a
beautiful night and a very good event.
Cars & Coffee: Dan announced that “Cars and Coffee” is held every Sunday morning from 8:30am-10:30am at La Java Coffee on Lineville
Road in Suamico (next to Zesty’s). This weekly event is open to any and all cars, trucks and motorcycles. Coffee and breakfast items are
available. Members are encouraged to attend. Free coffee cards are available from Mike Cropsey or at La Java.
Corvettes of the Bay 7th Annual Car Show Review: Mitch Hazaert gave a summary of the show and asked to show a round of applause
for all that made this great event happen. Mitch parked cars and had a great time. The event brought in approximately 100
Corvettes. Mitch also reminded all members how important volunteering is as a club member. Just try it once; you meet new members and
have a great time helping out the club. Wendy Cropsey announced that there will be some changes for the annual show next year in
regards to voting for best cars from the top six spectator votes. This is a club event so any and all donations from club members are
appreciated. Discussion was held regarding the possibility of changing the date of the show as it is held the same weekend as the “Back to
the 50’s” show in Minnesota, and also “Bloomington Gold” show in Illinois. Dave Riebe thanked all (Rocker band members and club
members) who donated to the disabled American Veterans.
Pearly Gates Veteran’s Ride: This event, to be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, is honoring the Korean War Veterans. We will be
departing Pearly Gates as a caravan to Fox Hills to Waymore Park and back to Pearly Gates. Breakfast at Perkins Restaurant on E.
Mason Street at 8 am leaving there around 9 am.
Luxemburg Parade: Jon Simonar announced he is still seeking volunteers of cars needed for the parade to be held on July 20, 2014. He
has space for an additional 3 or 4 cars. He needs more older Corvettes. Please check out the flyer on our website for more details.
Leicht at Nite on July 24: Meet at 5:30 pm at Leicht Park located by the Dousman Street bridge in downtown Green Bay for supper within
walking distance (dinner place TBD). The band Replica will be playing (Rock/Classic 80’s to current).
Harley Davidson Museum Run on July 26: Meet at The Ravine at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $16 per person (guided tour) if we have a group of
15 or more (funds will be collected before we leave per the request of the museum); $18 per person (without guided tour) if less than 15
people. We will travel along the lakeshore to Milwaukee with lunch at the Harley Davidson museum upon arrival. The 45-minute guided
tour will be after lunch and you will have time to go through other buildings, displays, and gift shop (10% discount in the gift shop). On the
return trip, we will stop at the Harley Davidson/Cruiser restaurant in Sheboygan.
Summer Party: Our club’s 40th anniversary party is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Bellevue VFW Hall with a “Support Your
Team” Sports Theme. Wear your favorite team apparel of ANY sport. This event is free of charge to members, and $5 for nonmembers. Event begins at 1pm, a Corvette run from 2-3 pm, and dinner served from 4-6 pm, with clean-up at 8pm.
Save the Date: Walls of Wittenberg Run on August 14. Dave and Betty Byrnes will lead this run for a ride to Wittenberg, Wisconsin, midmorning with an early lunch to see the fantastic murals on the buildings and a walking tour (wear good walking shoes), rain or shine. More
details to follow at next meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Karen Forehand reported that we received 10 new memberships from the annual car show at Wally’s Spot, and she
encouraged ALL members to plan a run which is a great way to meet new and exciting people!
Car Shows: Various members gave summaries of recent car shows they attended such as the Two Rivers Car Show, the Hot Rod Power
Tour, the Back to the 50’s Car Show, and the Bloomington Gold Car Show. All upcoming car shows are listed on our website. Dan Terrien
announced that the Car Show in Manawa, Wisconsin, was omitted from the website which will be held July 4th. Check it out!
50/50 Raffle: $50 was won by Myke Schmit. Congratulations!!
July Dinner Run: Meet at the Shell Station just east off of Highway 41 and Lineville Road July 23rd at 5:45pm, leaving promptly at 6pm for
a scenic ride to The Landing in Menominee, Michigan, for cocktails and dinner. (Note: The meeting place has been changed to the Shell
Station on Lineville Road; it was previously scheduled to meet at NWTC.)

The SEMA Action Network (SAN) is a is a nationwide partnership between vehicle clubs, enthusiasts and members of
the specialty auto parts industry who want to protect their hobby. The SAN was designed to remove legislative threats
to the automotive hobby and pass favorable laws. Dan has written articles in the newsletter about SEMA projects
before. During the Power Tour, Dan stopped at the SAN booth and learned two new things he wanted to share with
the club.
1. As an automotive enthusiast, you can and should become a member. It is very easy - visit semasan.com and click
the "Enlist Here" link. Dan is a member and said they don't bombard you with things. They just occasionally e-mail
you about the battles they are fighting, or the successes they have had. Sometimes they ask you to sign a petition.
2. SEMA has facilitated the formation of the State Automotive Enthusiast Leadership Caucus. This consists of state
legislators around the country with the common goal of supporting the automotive hobby. In Wisconsin, the members
include Senator Glenn Grothman, Senator Mary Lazich, and Representatives Ed Brooks, Andre
Jacque, Steve Kestell, Bob Kulp, John Nygren, and Michael Schraa.
If you are interested enough in cars to be in a car club, you will find enlisting in SAN to be worthwhile
and informative. Please visit semasan.com today! Keep your head up and the peddle down!
