To ensure proper operation of the Model HTR-202, this operator’s manual should be reviewed carefully before operation. Keep this manual available for future reference and also for use in the orientation of new personnel. If the height rod becomes damaged, it should not be used until properly serviced. All repairs should only be performed by Befour, Inc. Locate the height rod so it is out of the way of normal foot traffic. When not in use, position the headpiece slide above head height to minimize accidentally walking into the head-piece. Do not force the head-piece slide past its upper and lower stops. Always move the head-piece slide only by the headpiece knob. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the height rod. DIMENSIONS Height Width Depth from wall Measurement Rail Only Headpiece on Rail Weight 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) 8 inches (20 cm) 2.5 lbs. The headpiece must travel past the reference dot after it is turned on to display a numeric value. The display does not change while the headpiece is being raised. The measurement value only changes while the headpiece is moving downwards. This is an intentional design feature that is part of the autohold function. Once the measurement is taken, the headpiece can be raised out of way so the subject can move away from the height rod and the measurement value is retained. If I don’t like the measurement, can I quickly re-measure? Sure, while the subject is still under the headpiece, simply raise the headpiece a little ways and then lower to take a second measurement. Before Assembly Carefully inspect the carton for shipping damage before unpacking. If significant damage is found, keep all packaging and contact your shipper or Befour immediately. Claims must be filed with the shipper as soon as possible after receipt of damaged goods. Carefully unpack the components from the shipping container. Your height rod contains the following items: Calibration rod Rail assembly Headpiece with digital readout (1) lower end cap with two mounting screws (2) “aaa” alkaline batteries (1) Door mount bracket (2) Rubber feet Bracket knob connector Is there a quick way to do a calibration check? Yes, once calibrated, the value when the headpiece is all the way down (against the lower endcap) is a constant. You can record this value and quickly check whenever desired. Top mounting hole in upper endcap (BEFOUR label) Knob Why does the height rod display 5’ 7.3” as 5. 7.3? This is a limitation of the bright LED digits. We have found people become accustomed to this format very quickly. Battery holder Reference dot Rail Portable mounting bracket Adjustable door clamp Display On/off button 16 Calibration rod 5 Bottom rail rubber feet CARE AND MAINTENANCE Headpiece Battery Insertion & Display Format At the same time the batteries are inserted, you may also select the desired display unit of measure format. 1. To re-measure, raise and then lower the headpiece. screws When measurement is complete, raise the headpiece and have the patient walk away. Value will remain locked on the display for 30 seconds. Push on/off button to turn off. Display will turn off automatically after 30 seconds of non-activity. Slide the headpiece into the dovetail grooves in the rail. Make sure headpiece is stored near top position. ! NOTICE The height measurement value displayed does not change while the headpiece is being raised. For safety, leave the headpiece in the top position when unit is not in use. Slide the lower end cap into the rail grooves and secure by screwing in the (2) small black phillips screws. Do not over tighten. Keep magnets away from height rod. You may change the display format at any time by repeating the steps outlined on page 6. 14 7 Mounting the HTR-202 Portable Height Rod The HTR-202 has a 51” measurement span. The actual measurement range will vary slightly from set-up to set-up as each door’s top mounting surface is at a different height. Measuring Height 1. Press and release the on/off button. “Strt” will be flashing. 1. Determine the location for the height rod. The ideal location will have sufficient space on the right side for the health care professional to stand as the display is on that side. It should also have a level, hard flooring surface — carpeted flooring should be avoided, if possible. Also, the location should be away from foot traffic to minimize the chance of a person accidentally walking into the head-piece. 2. Using the bracket knob, attach the mounting bracket to the top of the height rod. Check that the bracket is straight with the height rod rail and then tighten the knob screw. Now attach rubber feet to the bottom of the height rod rail. 3. Set mounting bracket on top of door and tighten the adjustable door clamp if needed. Reference dot 2. Move the headpiece so it passes the reference dot. “Strt” will stop flashing and a beep will sound. Raise the headpiece so it will be well above the patient’s head. 8 13 HTR-202 Portable Digital Height Rod 5. Raise the headpiece until it passes the reference dot and the “100.0” stops flashing. Bracket knob Calibration is now complete. Your height rod is ready to use. HTR-202 Sliding head piece 12 9 Calibration Calibration needs to be done with door mounting. Each time the measurement rail is moved from one door to a different door location, it will need to be re-calibrated. The height rod retains calibration during battery changes. 4. Lower the headpiece until its bottom silver surface just touches the top of the calibration rod. While holding the headpiece touching the calibration rod, press and release the on/off button. “100.0” will now be flashing on the display. Use care and recheck your work as calibration is the key factor in the accuracy of the height rod. 1. Turn on by pressing and releasing the on/off button. A flashing “Strt” will display. 2. Press and hold the on/off button for 7 seconds until flashing “r100” displays. Release the button. calibration rod 3. Position calibration rod under stadiometer and slide head piece down until lower surface contacts calibration rod. 10 11
