Electrodata, Inc. shall not be liable for damages greater than the cost or replacement value of the EZ-REMOTE. 3.2 Routine Maintenance and Testing The EZ-REMOTE is a highly reliable solid state device that requires no adjustment. The only routine maintenance required is the periodic cleaning of the fan filter as described in paragraph 3.3. In case of problems with the test set, the self-test programs described in paragraph 3.4 should be run to verify that the LM is operational. If the LM is found to be non-operational, it should be returned to the factory for repair. Return authorization and shipping instructions must be obtained from the factory before returning the test set. A note indicating the suspected failure or symptoms and return address should be included with the unit when shipped. 3.3 Cleaning the Cooling Fan Filter During operation, the EZ-REMOTE circuitry generates sufficient heat to require a cooling fan. The fan is mounted on the right side of the rear panel and exhausts air through a filtered circular vent. Intake air is drawn through a circular vent with a sponge filter mounted on the left side of the rear panel. The filters must be kept free of debris buildup or heat damage to the LM may occur. Clean the filters as required using a standard vacuum cleaner and hose applied over the black filter retaining disk. If working conditions are such, more frequent cleaning may be required. Do not reverse the operation of the vacuum cleaner or the filter may be blown into the EZ-REMOTE circuitry and protection from debris will be lost. The filters can be replaced by snapping out the plastic grills in front of them with a flat blade screwdriver. 3.4 Self-Test Procedure The EZ-REMOTE is designed to perform a short power-on self-test that runs each time the test set is turned on. In addition to it’s own test, the self-test operation will perform tests on the unit to confirm normal operation. The EZ-REMOTE is designed with a comprehensive FULL SELF-TEST that can be run by selecting FULL SELF-TEST on the MAIN MENU screen. 3-1 3.5 Factory Service Where to Get Help If you need any assistance operating your EZ-REMOTE, or if you suspect a problem, or to inquire about options or new features, contact either your local Electrodata representative or Electrodata by mail, e-mail, or directly by our FAX or toll-free telephone number.
