Week 4 Term 1— Thursday, February 18th 2015
Student Leadership: Has a
high focus for us at St Georges Rd and
we encourage all of our students to take
on responsibilities and aspire to
leadership positions. On Monday, Dr
Sharman Stone, Federal Member for
Murray; came to school to present us
with a new Australian Flag. Rae-Nee
Roberts and Noah Celatano accepted
the flag on behalf of our school. It now
flies proudly at the front of our school.
Today, over 30 Grade 6 students presented speeches as part of the election to
leadership positions for 2016. A lot of preparation and practice went into the lead-up.
We were very proud of the quality of the student’s speeches. We finalised our Junior

Grade 1 Gymnastics program:
Each Monday over four weeks our Grade 1
students have a gymnastics session at Jets
Gymnasium in Mooroopna. The program is
focused on developing coordination, fine and
gross motor skills and developing an interest
disciplines of gymnastics. Our students love
this program as you can tell from these
photos!
School Council: This year
we have
three parent vacancies on our School
Council. Being nominated onto school council involves attending
monthly school council meetings to be part of the governance of the school. Nomination forms are available at the front
office. Our meetings are held of the third Wednesday on the month between 5:15 and 7:00pm. Nominations are now
open for parent candidates. At our Annual General Meeting (Wednesday March 16th ) we will be electing a new School
Council President and forming our new council for 2016. The period of service is generally 2 years, however, candidates
can renominate for another period of service. We encourage all members of our community to consider this
opportunity.
School Photos: Our annual school photos will be taken on Friday February 26th.

Easter Raffle
We will be running an Easter Raffle again
this year. Donations of Easter Eggs would
be greatly appreciated. Please leave at the
Front Office.
Head Lice
They don't care if the hair is long or short, clean or dirty. Head lice
are an unavoidable fact of life for all school-aged kids. The best
and cheapest way to remove them is with inexpensive conditioner
and a nit comb. You will need to re-treat your child several times
before all the eggs will be gone.
CHANGE OF DETAILS
Change of Detail Forms were sent
home last week. Please update your
details in particular if you have new
phone numbers.
If your details remain the same, please
write your childs name on the form
and then write across the form ‘No Changes’.
Thank you.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
As mentioned on the front page, our
school photos will be taken on Friday
26th February. Please ensure your
child/ren is/are dressed in full school
uniform.
Photo order envelopes were sent
home last week.
Please confirm your order and place
the exact money in the envelope, as
we do not always have the required
change at the office.
The photo order envelopes are due
back at the Front office by Thursday
25th February.
ABSENCE NOTES:
If your child is going to be/were
absent, please fill in an absence note
