Now, I know a lot of people who consider their
critters a part of their family. I myself am a bird
girl. I have a pet bird and her name is Mrs.
Beasley. Yes, from the old television show “Family
Affair.” She was actually my son’s bird, but he
packed up and went to college and somehow
forgot to take the bird. Funny how that happens!
Mrs. Beasley is quite curious. She loves to nibble
on whatever you’re eating and only likes certain
people. Pasta and popcorn are two of her
favorites. We’ve had cats and dogs over the years
and I personally find cats very mysterious. Cats
deal with you when THEY want to. My brothers,
John and Matthew are dog lovers. They have
several and love to go hunting with their buddies.

During the holiday season, San Antonio is indeed a
sight to behold. Our first day in the city takes us to
the IMAX Theatre for the movie, “Alamo…….The
Price of Freedom. “ After the movie our guide will
escort us through the Alamo. We’ll feast on an
authentic “Texan” meal before retiring for the
evening at our hotel, the El Tropical. This hotel is
ideally located right on the Riverwalk. Day Two takes
us to the beautiful Mission San Jose, the San
Fernando Cathedral, the Spanish Governor’s Palace,
lunch at the legendary Mi Tierra Restaurant and
leisurely shopping at the largest Mexican Market in
the U.S. Day Three is spent touring the Lyndon and
Lady Bird Johnson’s ranch. Then we’re off to the
beautiful Texas hill country town of Fredericksburg
where we’ll enjoy a Bavarian lunch. The last day takes
us to the famous King William District where we’ll
visit a beautifully decorated Victorian home. Then
before you know it, it’s time to head home.

monuments. Day Four takes us to the home of George
and Martha Washington, Mount Vernon. Thomas

lunch at Michie Tavern. This tavern has welcomed
travelers for more than 200 years. Day Six is spent at
the largest living history museum in Colonial
Williamsburg. All transportation and nine meals are
