Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area provides visitors with a
unique recreation experience in the dramatic eastern Washington
landscape of the Ice Age floods. Jones & Jones prepared a Shoreline
Management Plan for equitable public access, improved facilities, and
adaptations to changing water levels of the reservoir.
Created by Grand Coulee Dam in 1945,
Lake Roosevelt has a rich and varied
history of tribal fishing, military forts,
missions, schools and public works
projects that continues to influence
the lake and its watershed. We drew
on this history and the lake’s ecological
context as we planned improvements
for new as well as for existing facilities.
New development at Crescent Bay
on the western end of the lake will
appropriate a trail system, swim beach,
marina and visitor center.
The final Shoreline Management Plan
accommodates more visitors, while
improving the environmental integrity
of the lakeshore.
