Macau International Airport

Issue
From the Desk of CEO
Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to tell you that signiÀcant trafÀc was marked during the third quarter of 2015. The Airport registered new
historical peaks in its trafÀc with 4,903 aircraft movements and 575,849 passengers in August. The newcomer, Hainan
Airlines launched regular services to Haikou in September. On the other hand Jetstar PaciÀc also opened up new destinations from MFM in this quarter such as Ho Chi Minh and Haiphong.
Following the trafÀc growth at MFM, insufÀciency in some of our airportɅ
s facilities and service have been observed
including carpark lots, seating space, Áight information systems, internet as well as food and beverage services. Seeing
this, the Airport has a number of enhancement actions. The Àrst phase was in August, the Airport re-designed layout of
the two airport carparks, increased to 570 parking lots. Another new service as you have already noticed is the smart
phone charging machines that were installed in October.This is a joint project between MFM and JCDecaux and 10 units
of charging machines have been installed at the departure and arrival levels. We will continue to seek improvements and
enhancements in the Airport to improve passenger experience.
On the 23rd October 2015, a full scale emergency exercise was held at Macau International Airport, over 300 participants
from various airport-related entities joined in, taking this yearly opportunity to test MFMɅ
s capabilities in emergency
response. All ADAɅ
s teams involved worked very hard for this exercise to materialize, I would like to show my appreciation to all of you for a job well done.
As you may be aware, some entertainment was arranged at the passenger terminal during the recent summer vacation
months. We were happy to see that the clowns and magicianɅ
s tricks cheered up passengers who traveled during July and
August. Besides, for the Àrst time the Airport held a special event at the PTB in celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival.
Passengers were invited to take instant free photos with the Goddess of Moon and Wu Kang, and received these nice
photos in a specially designed envelope. We hope that these add-on elements will create some unique experience for
passengers during their stay at Macau International Airport.
December, the Airport will complete its 20th year of operation. Let me express my sincere gratitude to all ADA staffs
who are dedicated throughout these years that made Macau International Airport a successful airport in the region.

he Greening of MFM
Macau International Airport have Moined the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Programme since 2014,
we have been taking various initiatives aiming to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of our airport. Here I
would like to share the proMects embarked this year with you.
The ¿rst initiative is the installation of green walls in the passenger terminal. In the departure airside, two
green walls are under construction - one next to the escalators going up to Plaza Premium Lounge at the
south side and the other next to the escalators going up to the Airport Restaurant at the north side. Both green
walls will be in place very soon.
Green walls offer a lot of bene¿ts. They can help to save energy during the summer. Through the process
known as transpiration plants acutally cool their surrounding environment slightly, thus lowering the indoor
temperature to a certain degree. As a result, less energy is reTuired for air conditioning and carbon emissions
can be reduced. Moreover, the presence of green walls improves aesthetic view and provides pleasant ambience for passengers. The
vegetation can also purify the surrounding air by absorbing and reducing polluants in air.
The second initiative is the replacement of Air¿eld Ground Lighting (AGL) of Taxiway and Apron Center
Line with LED lights, following the replacement of the Taxiway Edge Lights and Stop Bars from late 2012
to early 2013. This proMect is sponsored by the SAR Government through the application of subsidy from
the Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation Fund of DSPA.
The LED lights will arrive Macau in late November and the replacement work will start soon afterwards.
Totally 410 lamps will be replaced, with estimated saving in energy consumption to be 51,041 kWh per year,
offsetting 49.3 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The third one is the replacement of the lights in the following areas of the airport with LED lights:
‡ ADA Reception & Of¿ces at Mezzanine Level;
‡ Staff Corridor at Mezzanine Level;
‡ Part of Make-up Area;
‡ GSS Of¿ce;
‡ Left Luggage Counter at Departures Level;
‡ ADA E&M Building
Totally 1,835 lamps will be replaced, with estimated saving in energy consumption to be 201,904 kWh
per year, offsetting 195.04 tonnes of carbon emissions.
“Environmental protection” is not a slogan. All these proMects support the Green Airport strategy of MFM. It demonstrates the sheer
commitment of our airport to tackling global climate change.
Let’s Moin hands to work for a better environment.

Ms. Lam Kim U, Principal of the Concordia School for Special Education welcomed us. When we walked into the school corridor,
we saw these children’s smiling face. Some children warmly shook hands with us. After a brief introduction, we are arranged to
make cartoon lantern with the Grades 1-4 students. The students saw us bring cartoon lanterns, dancing and cheering. Although
some students cannot express their feelings in words, but from their smiles we could feel their happiness and excitement. There are
some intellectual and physical problems for these lovely children, but we believe they live happily in their own beautiful world.
After a simple explanation of the production process of making the cartoon lantern, we sat next to each of the students, patiently
making lanterns with them together. Cute cartoon lanterns have ¿nished, lantern light lit up smiling face of every one of us and we
used camera to record these wonderful moments. Charity members also prepared delicious moon cakes. We distributed moon cakes
to these students, and also brought them a sincere blessing for the coming Mid-Autumn Festival.
Time Àies, this meaningful visit came to an end. Each of us hoped to spend more time with these lovely children. We all want to
have more participation in such activities in the future.

raveling to Taichung
In this September, I started my ¿ve days trip to Taiwan with my friends. We departed from Macau International Airport by Tiger Air.
It took around 1.5 hours arrived to Taoyuan Airport. Our mainly schedule was planned in Taichung, Therefore, we only spend one day
in Taipei then arrived to Taichung on the 2nd day morning. There were 3 choices of transportation from Taipei to Taichung: By train,
by bus or High Speed Rail. It depends on your consideration of budget and driving time to choose the most appropriate way.
Compare to Taipei, Taichung is a place full of rustic atmosphere, tranTuil but not boring. Since Taipei is the capital city of Taiwan, It’s
obvious that the traf¿c in Taipei is more convenient than Taichung. Without MTR, taxi and bus will be the main transport for us to reach
the every viewpoint in Taichung. Therefore, you have to spend more time for preparing the information of transportation. However,
we learned that some of Taxi can be provided Daily car rental service for sightseeing. It cost around MOP800 per day. The hospitable
driver will drive you to every corner of Taichung. They will enthusiastically share about their interesting life in Taichung. If you have
enough team members, it will be a good choice for you to save more time in order to go more places.
Rainbow Military Community is one of the famous attractions in Taichung. There were painted over the wall with simplistic and colorful
style. And these are all painted by a nearly eighty years old elderly, he made this plain village full of color because of his improvisation.
Another attractions you should not be missed is ChingMing Farm which is located in Nanto. Standing on the endless Evergreen grassland
and breathing fresh air with altitude of 1,800 meters, the Àock was everywhere. You can release your stress immediately. In addition to
foreign tourists, there was a popular choice for the local Taiwanese as a family excursion. Thence, we suggested visiting on weekday
instead of weekend. If available, is better to stay one night in their featured hotels, so that you can take the opportunity to enMoy the
beautiful sunrise on next day morning.
I think the beauty of Taichung, in addition to its beautiful scenery, as well as the hospitality of the local people.
