6 - 9pm. ReInvention Fashion Show + Hot Jam.
The fashion show starting at 8pm will focus on
beautiful imperfections and turning them into
unique, gorgeous works of wearable art.
Featured designers embody the idea of
“reinvention” by using recycled materials or
reinventing new garments out of vintage finds
much like PGC’s current exhibition
“ABC@PGC.” Seattle artists Jen Elek and
Jeremy Bert created a colorful exhibition
featuring glass sculptures combined with an
interactive illuminated word building piece
that visitors can touch, rearrange and wear
like apparel. American Sign Language (ASL)
narrated glassblowing demonstrations will be
ongoing in addition to a performance by
Speaklife. Storytellers and Tracksploitation.

Unblurred is a monthly event that opens the
Penn Avenue Arts District (4800-5500 Penn)
for exploration by adults and children. The
Penn Avenue Arts Initiative (PAAI) is a project
of the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation to
support artists in the renovation of blighted,
formerly vacant buildings and in turn create
an artist niche along the corridor. PAAI is
supported by McCune Foundation, Heinz
Endowments, PNC Bank, Allegheny Valley
Bank, Dollar Bank, the Main Street Program
(sponsored jointly by the Urban
Redevelopment Authority, City of Pittsburgh,
and the Pennsylvania Department of
Community and Economic Development), and
the Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood
Development.

Marco from 5-10p. Yes there will be a

work of Celeste Neuhaus, an interdisciplinary
artist working in assemblage, sculpture, video,

Neuhaus’s work emphasize cycles and
continuums and their relationship to paradox.
Her series “Calendar Cycle” is a group of
drawings on images from calendars, created
using a harmonograph, which is a machine
that makes drawings determined by the
interrelated movement of multiple
pendulums. Examples of her work can be seen

about the geek art/green
innovator’s festival
In the sixth installation of the Geek Art/Green
Innovator's Festival, we look backward to look
forward on how technology in the past is
constantly being revamped and in some cases
returned to its more simplistic forms. We also
are looking at how food "styles" are changing
and how fashion and music are influenced by
technology. Galleries and businesses in the
Penn Avenue Arts District will be displaying,
exhibiting and presenting these and others
issues of interest in the Tech, art and
environmental fields. gagi6.blogspot.com

BLACK ROOM:COLOR ROOM – Work by Ross
Hardy” Some of the work in the show uses
Iron-Oxide to stain paper. Since Iron-Oxide is
the result of metal rusting, It is a
representation of the waste left behind by
past industry. The act of photocopying shows a
progress of each piece intensifying and then
fading out. This progress is a representation of
how these industries have impacted our
environment, but now are fading out and
giving way to new clean technologies. Exhibit
runs to the 29th. www.modernformations.com
