Dressed in uniform, Jamerson tells stories, shows clips from his PBS film, reads excerpts from his novel, and sings original songs with his guitar. This nostalgic program is filled with heartfelt stories and lots of laughter. The CCC was a federal works program created by FDR in the heart of The Great Depression. Library Levy Renewal On March 15, the Dover Public Library will ask voters in Dover Township to approve a renewal of its operating levy lasting five years. The proposed renewal is not a tax increase. See page 3 for more information on the levy. 1 Director: Director’s Notes By Jim Gill Jim Gill [email protected] 2016 is here! I hope you are as excited as we are to see what the New Year will bring. Fiscal Officer: Jamie Rieger [email protected] Board of Trustees Robert Gerber, Pres. Julie Warther, VP Paula Fritz, Sec. Dan Fuller John Hoopingarner Sarah Lehman Bob Scanlon Our Mission: The Dover Public Library is committed to being the center of community life in Dover, Ohio. It is our mission to support life-long learning by providing information and opportunities for personal enrichment and enjoyment to people of all ages and from all backgrounds in Dover and throughout the Tuscarawas Valley. This year, the library is pleased to unveil a brand new author series called Nights at the Round Table. As it was in King Arthur’s court, our round table is a symbol that everyone who sits around it is equal. This new series gives people the opportunity to meet and share ideas with visiting authors. Not everyone has the opportunity to become a published author, so we hope Nights at the Round Table becomes a forum for conversation where readers can connect with writers in a way that is fun, inspiring, and possibly lifechanging. We hope to see you around the Round Table in 2016! 100 Book Club January 1 - December 31, 2016 Challenge yourself to read 100 books in 2016! Receive a reading log to track your progress. Complete the challenge and receive a membership card, a t-shirt, and an invitation to our annual reception. Call the library at 330-343-6123 for complete rules. 2 Dover Public Library Levy Q&A What is the library levy and when will it be on the ballot? The Library is proposing the renewal of a 1-mill operating levy for 5 years to be on the March 15th ballot. Will my taxes increase? There will be no tax increase for the renewal levy. The renewal will cost $2.91 per month for the owner of a home valued at $100,000. How are the funds used by the Library? Levy funds will be used for operating expenses of the Library such as materials (books, DVDs, eBooks, CDs), programming for all ages, and services to the community such as Books on Wheels and computer classes. The Library depends on the levy for 27% of its funding. What will happen if the levy does not pass? Without the levy, the Library will have to make severe cuts beginning next year, including changing operating hours and staffing, reducing the amount of new materials, and reducing the number of programs. What are the important dates for this election? The deadline to register for the Primary election is Tuesday, February 16. The Primary election is Tuesday, March 15. Please feel free to contact director Jim Gill with any questions.
