LEadership & COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Mark Whitlow,
Office Products Alliance
2016 Chair of the Board
Mark Whitlow is the owner of
Office Products Alliance which
started in Blue Springs 22 years ago.
He graduated from Blue Springs
High School in 1982, grew up in
Blue Springs and is very active in the
community through many
organizations including the Blue
Springs Chamber of Commerce and
the Blue Springs Education
Foundation. Office Products
Alliance is also a corporate sponsor
of Big Brothers and Big Sisters and
many other local charitable
organizations.
Although his work schedule can be
hectic, Whitlow says he loves what
he can do for his community
through his business. By owning a
local business, Whitlow says he can
help the community by being
involved. He says that through his
time and the time of his many staff
members, which he also donates, his
business can educate youth about
the advantages of entrepreneurship
and how it can benefit the
community.

Objective: Leadership Blue
Springs is aimed at developing a
leadership pool for the present and
future of our community. Leadership participants develop skills and
knowledge of the community through nine full day sessions concerning
such topics as government, youth, economic development, law enforcement
and quality of life.

Co-chairs: Cody Raithel, Central Bank of the Midwest and Ryan
Johnson
Chair elect: Jake Greco, Greco Agency Farmers Insurance
Objective: genbluesprings is for professionals, 40 years and under, whose
company is a member of the Chamber. The goals of the group include
networking, career building, leadership development for future Blue Springs
community leaders and to provide input to the Blue Springs Chamber about
the needs of young professionals.
FALL FUN FESTIVAL
Chairman: Bill Fickle, Side Pockets
Co-chair: Kelly Michael O’Reilly, Looks of Shear Elegance
Objective: Plan, promote and execute
a successful Fall Fun Festival September
16, 17 & 18, 2016, in Downtown Blue
Springs. This event is a community
celebration and includes entertainment, a
beer garden, children’s activities, food,
game and vendor booths and a parade.
It is also the largest non-dues fundraiser
for the Chamber each year.

Objective: To retain existing members of the Chamber and help new members to
successfully connect with other Chamber members in a way that promotes doing
business.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Co-chairs: Loretta Polzin, AFS

US Bank North
Objective: Plan and promote a
successful Golf Tournament on Friday,
May 13, 2016, for the Chamber of
Commerce. This tournament is a fund
raiser for the Chamber and also
facilitates interaction within the
business community.
LIP SYNC BATTLE
Chair: Annette Seago, Blue Springs R-IV School District
Objective: This taskforce organizes and implements an entertaining and fun event
held May 19, 11am-1pm, at Adams Pointe Conference Center.

Objective: This taskforce organizes and promotes
the free monthly professional development series.
Business Support & Promotion Division

BUY BLUE SPRINGS/VISITORS’ COUNCIL
Co-Chairs:
Trisha Kennedy, Kennedy Custom Jewelers
Pam Wheeler, Genevieve’s Home & Handmade
Objective: This task force plans and promotes the Buy Blue Springs Program for the
Chamber. The Buy Blue Springs program is an education and outreach marketing plan
designed to encourage residents to consider Blue Springs first when making purchases.
This group also leads the efforts in promoting Blue Springs as a visitor
destination. The goal is to encourage visitors to Discover Blue Springs and to
shop, dine, stay and play in Blue Springs.
GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS
Co-chairs: David Slater, Bank 21 and Joe Ohmes, Haldex
Objective: To plan and promote the annual trip Jefferson City, the
monthly Legislative Breakfasts, and the Meet the Candidates’ Forum.
This group also helps review and develop the Chamber’s annual
Legislative Priorities for recommendation to the Board of Directors.
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD
Chair: Yvonne Hall, Blue Ridge Bank & Trust
Objective: This taskforce promotes the program, solicits
applications, and monitors the Business of the Year program.

the Board of Director’s meeting. This

Objective: Review the Chamber’s
finances monthly and report to the
Board of Directors. This is a subcommittee of the Board and is by
appointment only.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Chair: Appointed by the Board
Objective: Review potential
candidates for the Board of Directors
each year. This is a sub-committee of
the Board and is by appointment only.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
Chair: Chair Elect
Objective: To put in place a strategic
plan for the Blue Springs Chamber of
Commerce. This is a sub-committee of
the Board and is by appointment only.
PAST CHAIRMEN’S COUNCIL
Chair: Chair Emeritus
Objective: To bring previous
Chairmen of the Board together at least
one time per year for advice and
counsel. This is a
sub-committee of the Board.
