How to Clean

The Whirlpool Foot Spa
I. After Service of Each Client



Drain all water & remove debris from foot spa
Clean foot spa with soap & water & rinse
Disinfect foot spa with EPA registered
hospital-grade disinfectant & rinse

Must be a bactericide, fungicide & virucide (for example bleach)
Use according to manufacturer’s recommendation
Don’t use more than recommended or less than recommended
Wipe foot spa dry with clean towel
Drain Water; Remove Debris;
Wash with Soap & Water & Rinse
Disinfect with Hospital-grade Disinfectant

Fungicide
Spray Hospital-grade Disinfectant
Bactericide

Virucide
A scrubby is hard to disinfect.
Use a brush that can be scrubbed & disinfected.
Rinse
Wipe dry with
clean towel
Store clean
towels in a
closed
cupboard
Don’t Pour in
Measure disinfectant to get the correct amount.
II. End of Day




Remove screens & debris behind screens
Clean screens & inlet behind screens
Soak screens in EPA registered disinfectant
Disinfect foot spas with EPA registered
hospital-grade disinfectant

Use according to manufacturer’s recommendation
Flush with low-sudsing soap & warm water
for 10 minutes
Rinse & drain
Remove Screens & Debris Behind Screen
Wash Screens with Soap & Water
Wash Inlet with Soap & Water
Inlet Washed with Soap & Water
Rinse
Soak Screens in EPA Registered
Hospital-grade Disinfectant
Bactericide,
fungicide &
virucide
Follow manufacturer’s instructions
Measure
Correct
Amount
Flush Foot Spa with Low-sudsing
Soap & Warm Water
Flush for 10 minutes
Rinse & Drain Foot Spa & Rinse Inlet
III. Every Week
– after cleaning & disinfecting foot spa & screens…

Fill foot spa with water & 1 teaspoon of
5.25% bleach for each gallon of water (about 2-5
gallons water in spas = 2-5 teaspoons of beach)

Turn on foot spa & flush with 5.25% bleach +
water mixture for 5-10 minutes
Leave bleach + water in foot spa for 6-10 hours
Drain spa & flush with water
After Cleaning & Disinfecting Foot Spa
*Fill with Water + 5.25% Bleach
* 1 teaspoon bleach for each gallon
of water
Turn on Foot Spa & Flush with the 5.25%
Beach & Water
Flush for 5 – 10 minutes
Leave Bleach & Water Mixture in
Foot Spa for 6 – 10 Hours
5.25 % Bleach + Water
Drain Foot Spa & Flush with Water
Clean Water
Rinse
Record Date & Time of Cleaning
Record time & date spa cleaned &
disinfected
 Post cleaning record next to spa
 Make record available to Dept of
Licensing

