Drawings at 3pm @The Lapeer Heritage Museum On Memorial Day over 115 people visited the open house at the museum to honor Vietnam veterans. The museum was open and welcomed visitors on the day of Lapeer County Bank's annual ice cream social. As the school year came to a close we hosted Chatfield Second Graders at the Historic Courthouse and fourth graders at our Davis Brothers Farm Shop Museum. In June the Genealogical Society and the Historical Society met for a potluck and demonstration at the Farm Shop Museum. This month, Color Wonders will paint the exterior of the museum. Then in September, Marlette Roofing will be replacing the aging roof of the museum. On November 3, Melissa Ogden, a gifted local musician, will perform at the PIX at our annual Concert/Dessert Gala. As an added attraction the Senior Singers of Canada will join her on stage. Seeking Volunteers …..We are in need of docents at our Lapeer Heritage Museum. You don’t have to be a history expert, just enthusiastic. Typically, our docents welcome visitors to the Heritage Museum and the Genealogy Research Center, answer the phone, and operate the Gift Shop. Our regular hours are 10am to 3pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We also have special events from time to time and at our other locations — the Historic Courthouse, and the Davis Brothers Farm Shop Museum. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us at the Museum or call one of our Board members listed below.
