Be absolutely sure to observe the special safety notices within the operating instructions and
the general notices in the attachment. If the model is given to another person then the
complete operating instructions must be given along with the model as a reference.
General
The V-VENTURE model has been especially designed for newcomers to RC model
flying and yet it achieves outstanding flight performance. The model, including its
accessories, can be conveniently stored and transported in the protection of its

Model assembly
The model is ready to fly after only a few simple manual steps. Nevertheless, the
notices which follow are to be carried out carefully so that even the first flight is a
success.
To open the cockpit canopy, hold it securely at its front end then pull it off upward.
This act requires a considerable amount of force since the holding force of the
magnetic fastener is adjusted such that the cockpit canopy is firmly seated and
remains securely in place even when flying aerobatic figures. Once the cockpit
canopy has been removed, the two wing halves can be pushed into the fuselage.

When doing this, also thread the servo cables forward and out through the respective
opening in the fuselage.
The picture shows the right wing half already completely pushed into the fuselage.
While the left wing half is pushed on, the servo cable is to be thread through as
shown. Please note that pushing the wing halves together completely requires
considerable force. Tip: Pushing the wing halves together is easier when both studs
on the left wing half are pressed together somewhat just before pressing the wing
halves together. After this assembly procedure has been done several times the wing
halves can be pushed together much easier.
Plug the aileron servo cable connectors into the receiver as follows: socket 2 for the
left aileron servo, socket 5 for the right aileron servo. Pay attention to the graphic
illustration on the receiver. The cables must be plugged in to match that illustration.
The cable's wire with brown insulation (-) is always to the receiver's upper side.
The picture shows the completely installed receiver. The receiver antenna lies in the
guide tube. The button for programming the 18 BEC BRUSHLESS CONTROL can
be pulled off of the speed regulator after the first operational test (see next section) if
the regulator is working properly. Please note that the operating instructions for the
18 BEC BRUSHLESS CONTROL speed regulator is enclosed separately in the
package.
The first operational test, the functions and their operating elements
Before starting the test, fully charge the LiPo battery and the transmitter's battery.
Use only the enclosed charger or another charger which we have
recommended. Follow the operating instructions and safety notices for the
charger and heed the instructions and warnings for the use of LiPo batteries
located in the attachment to these operating instructions.

Once the batteries have been charged, switch on the MX-10 transmitter and pull the
transmitter's right joystick to the rear into its "Motor off" position. Place the 2/2200
7.4 V LiPo battery into the fuselage. Remember that plugging in the BEC plug
connection will switch on the receiver. In this state the motor can start up suddenly
due to unforeseen circumstances. Never, under any circumstances, touch the
propeller after connecting the BEC connector. If this rule is ignored there is
danger of severe injuries to hands, arms, face or eyes.
Now plug in the BEC connector between the speed regulator and the LiPo battery.
The speed regulator will respond with multiple short beeps (Do, Re~~Do, Re, Mi) to
indicate its operational readiness. Now perform a test of rudder functions. Direction
control (aileron) is done with the right joystick. If this joystick is moved to the left, the
left aileron must accordingly move upward, the right aileron downward such that, if in
flight, the model will fly a left curve. Elevator control is done with the left joystick.
Pulling to the rear causes upward elevator flap throw, pressing forward causes a
downward elevator flap throw.

Now perform a motor test by pushing the right joystick forward. Test runs are best
done outdoors.
Having a helper who can hold the model securely while you are operating the transmitter is
advantageous. Be sure to always follow the safety notices while doing this. Please also
note that it is absolutely necessary to disconnect the BEC connector after every time
the motor or model has been operated. This is not only a safety measure but also
serves to protect the LiPo battery. Even when the model is not being actively used there is
still a small amount of current that flows when the BEC connector is plugged in and, over
time, this will cause the LiPo battery to go into a deep-discharge state that damages it
irreparably.
Important notice: All rudder functions are factory preset as described. If a function
operates in the wrong direction, correct the servo's direction by making a switchover
with the Servo reverse switch.
However, always put the rudder into its middle position (neutral position) with the trim
controls. These settings are very important because otherwise the model will not fly
straight ahead or will climb or descend too steeply.
The speed brake function
The speed brake function is activated with the left 2-way switch on the MX-10
transmitter. If this switch is tipped to the rear, both ailerons will move upward.
The picture shows the model with its speed brake function activated. Both ailerons
move upward about 40 mm and, at the same time, about 10 % down elevator will be
applied. The model remains under full control, the glide angle becomes significantly
steeper and this makes precise landings possible.
Note: Should a reset of the receiver occur inadvertently, the software is available as a
free download from the Graupner homepage at V-VENTURE order no. 9910.100 to
9910.RTF. Interface adapters, order nos. 7168.6 and 7168.S (not included), are
necessary to transfer the software to the receiver.
COMPACT 260 7.4 V motor set
The high-quality motor set is already installed. The corresponding 18 BEC
BRUSHLESS CONTROL speed regulator is optimally adjusted at the factory for the
V-VENTURE so that nothing has to be programmed.

The cross-section picture of the V-VENTURE shows the internal structure of the
fuselage.
Control surface throws
The rudder throws are set at the factory as follows: In each case, as measured at the
the rudder's edge and on the rudder's inner side: elevator about 10 mm up and down,
aileron about 28 mm up and about 12 mm down. Speed brake throw about 40 mm
upward. The 2-way switch for the dual rate function at the top right of the MX-10
transmitter can be used to reduce all throws by 30 %. This is done by pulling that
toggle switch to the rear. We recommend activation of this dual rate function during
the first flights, i.e. fly these flights with smaller rudder throws.
The center of gravity area
The V-VENTURE model's center of gravity lies between 75 and 85 mm behind the
front edge of the wings and it is set accordingly at the factory if the recommended
LiPo battery is used. The center of gravity point can be checked by supporting the
model with two fingers beneath the wings in the center of gravity area. The model
should stop rocking back and forth at a horizontal attitude.
The initial flight
The completely prepared model should only be initially flown when there is no wind or
only a light wind. Controlling the model in wind would be much too difficult for a
novice pilot. An open outdoor field with a slightly declining slope into the direction of
the wind is needed. Never perform take-offs or landings between buildings or trees
because the model is difficult to control where the air is swirling. If you are a novice to
model flying, it is advantageous to have an experienced helper at your side while
making model preflight checks and the first few flights.
With the motor running, push the model per hand-start into the air against the wind;
do not throw the model. The right take-off speed can be achieved with a few running
steps. Start the model with its nose pointed upward slightly (about a 15° angle).
It is important to perform fine trimming of the model, especially after the first start.
This is done with the trim controls below or next to the joysticks. Adjust aileron trim
with the trim controls such that the model flies straight ahead. Adjust elevator trim
such that the model climbs slightly with the motor on and exhibits a level glide with
the motor off. Make the landing exactly into the wind with the motor switched off.
Before setting the model down, reduce its speed by gentle doses of elevator throw.
Always land the model against the direction of the wind.
GRAUPNER Modellbau wishes you many pleasant flights with this new flying model.

Environmental protection notices
The symbol on this product, its operating instructions or packaging gives notice that this product may not be discarded as
common household waste at the end of its service life. It must be turned over to a recycling collection point for
electric and electronic apparatus.
The materials can be recycled according to their markings. You make an important contribution to protection of
the environment by utilizing facilities for reuse, material recycling or other means of exploiting obsolete
equipment.
Batteries must be removed from the unit and disposed of separately at an appropriate collection point.
Please inquire with local authorities about the responsible waste collection locations.
Instructions and warning notices for use of the LiPo battery
Incorrect handling can lead to explosions, fire, smoke and poisoning hazards. Furthermore, disregard
for these instructions and warnings can lead to reduced performance and other defects. The LiPo
battery's capacity is reduced by every charge/discharge cycle. Storing the battery at temperatures
which are too high or too low can also lead to a gradual reduction in capacity. The LiPo battery may
only be charged with suitable chargers. Any manipulation to the charger can lead to severe damage.
The charger must be placed on a non-combustible, heat resistant, non-conducting surface during the
charging process! Combustible or readily ignited objects are to be kept away from the charging
configuration. Batteries may only be charged under supervision.
Avoid a short circuit condition
Never short-circuit the battery. A short-circuit allows very high current to flow and this heats up the
cells. This will lead to loss of electrolyte, the production of gases and perhaps even explosions. Avoid
having electrically conducting surfaces in the vicinity of, or while handling, Graupner LiPo batteries
because of the danger of creating a short-circuit condition.

Housing foil stability
The aluminum-laminate film foil that makes up the outer surface of the battery can easily be damaged
by sharp objects like needles, knives, nails, etc. Damage to this outer foil makes the battery useless. A
short-circuit condition can cause the battery to burn.
Temperatures above 70 °C will also damage the housin g and destroy its seal. This will cause loss of
electrolyte, the battery becomes useless and its disposal is necessary.
Mechanical shock
A LiPo battery is not as mechanically stable as batteries in metal housings. Therefore avoid
mechanical shocks caused by dropping, impacts, bending, cutting, tearing and deforming. Never drill
into the battery housing foil or bend or twist the LiPo battery.
If the LiPo battery is damaged, it must never be used or returned to service again. The characteristics
of damaged battery cells include: damaged housing packaging, deformed battery cells, the odor of
electrolyte or leaking electrolyte. Damaged or useless cells are hazardous waste items and must be
appropriately disposed, see "Environmental protection notices".
General warning notices
A LiPo battery must never be burned under any circumstances.
The battery must not be submerged in liquids, such as water, seawater or beverages. Any contact with
liquids, of whatever nature, is to be avoided. A LiPo battery is not a toy and must therefore not get into
the hands of children. Store the LiPo battery out of the reach of children. The LiPo battery must not get
into the vicinity of babies or small children. The LiPo battery must not be put in a microwave oven or
put under pressure. Smoke, fire and more can be the consequences.
Never dismantle a LiPo battery. Dismantling a battery can cause internal short-circuits. Gas, fire,
explosions and other problems can result.
The electrolyte and electrolytic vapors in the LiPo battery are harmful. Be sure to avoid all direct
contact with electrolyte. If electrolyte comes into contact with skin, eyes or other body parts,
immediately wash or rinse it out with generous amounts of fresh water then be sure to consult a
doctor.
General safety notices
Liability insurance which is in force is required to operate model aircraft. This is required by legal statute.
The entire operating instructions must be carefully read before attempting to put the model into operation
for the first time. You are solely responsible for the safe operation of your RC model aircraft. Youths who
operate the model must be responsibly supervised by an adult who is familiar with the circumstances and
potential hazards involved with RC model aircraft.
From a legal point of view, a model aircraft is an aircraft and, as such, subject to respective laws that
must absolutely be observed. The pamphlet »Model aviation law«, order no. 8034.02, presents a summary
of these laws. This pamphlet can also be reviewed at dealerships.
Only those parts included in the package as well as those original Graupner accessories and replacement
parts which we expressly recommend may be used. If a component in the drive unit is changed, safe
operation is no longer warranted and all rights under the guarantee are voided.
Avoid short circuit conditions and reverse polarity.
The high energy level of batteries present explosion and fire hazards.
Only cautious, considered handling during operation of the model will prevent personal injuries and
property damage. No one would get into a glider and – without any advance training – attempt to fly it.
Successful model flying also necessitates a training and practice phase.
However, the manufacturer has no possibility to influence the assembly and operation of a RC aircraft
model. This is why emphatic notification is herewith made about the hazards, and all liability for these is
expressly rejected.
Please address these issues with an experienced model pilot, a club or a model aircraft school. We also
refer you to dealerships and relevant trade publications. The optimal situation is to fly from an approved
model airfield as a club member.
The operator must be in full possession of complete physical and mental facilities. As with driving an
automobile, operating a model aircraft under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not allowed.
Inform those persons passing by or watching about the hazards associated with your model before you
start it and admonish these persons to maintain a safe distance.

Always keep the necessary safe distance between the flying model and persons or obstacles; never fly
over or toward other persons!
Model flying activity may only be pursued when outdoor temperatures are between - 5 °C and + 35 °C.
Extreme temperatures can lead to changes in battery capacity, affect material characteristics and even,
for example, cause adhesive bonds to become defective and so forth.
Every model pilot is to behave such that public safety (in particular other persons and property) and
model flying activities in the area are neither endangered nor disturbed.
Never fly the model aircraft in the vicinity of high-voltage transmission lines, industrial premises,
residential areas, public streets, school yards or playgrounds and the like.
Pre-start checks
Perform checks for correct functionality before every use. Switch on the transmitter and receiver for this.
Check all control surfaces to be in their neutral positions, that they function flawlessly and that their
direction of throw is correct.
If you are a novice to model flying, it is advantageous to have an experienced helper at your side during
the checks and the first few flights.
Warnings must absolutely be observed. They point out situations and activities which, if disregarded, can
lead to severe injuries – in extreme cases even to lethal injuries or permanent disabilities.
Motor-driven propellers present a constant injury hazard. They may never come into contact with any
body part! A rapidly turning aircraft propeller can, for example, sever a finger!
Never place yourself in or in-front-of the plane of a turning aircraft propeller! A part of the propeller or the
entire propeller could break loose and be hurled away at great speed and energy to hit you or others. This
can lead to severe injuries. Be careful that no foreign object comes into contact with a turning propeller!
A blockage of the propeller by any kind of part must be precluded.
Therefore, check the model and all of its attached parts (e.g. propeller, horizontal tailplane, etc.) for
secure seating and possible damage before every use. The model may only be put into operation after all
defects have been corrected.
Radio frequency interference caused by unknown sources can occur anytime without warning! The model
is then out of control and unpredictable! Do not leave the remote control system unattended, this
prevents unauthorized third-parties from handling the system.
Switch on the electric motor only when nothing is in the turning area of the propeller. Never try to stop a
running propeller. Only operate the propeller with the motor when both are installed in the model.
The model's flying attitude must always be explicitly recognizable during the entire flight in order to
ensure secure control and maneuvers. If functional impairments or disturbances become evident during a
flight, a landing must be initiated immediately for reasons of safety. You must always avoid other aircraft.
The take-off/landing strip must be free of persons and other obstacles.
Always ensure the batteries are fully charged as otherwise the flawless operation of the HoTT
COMPUTER SYSTEM cannot be assured.
Never use batteries which have been overheated, become defective or are damaged. The battery
manufacturer's usage instructions must always be followed.
These notices are intended to call attention to the diverse hazards that can arise from improper and
irresponsible handling. Proper, conscientious model aircraft flight is a creative, enlightening, refreshing
recreational activity.
