TEEN LEADERSHIP
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
YMCA Summer Camps are a great place to become a teen leader!
Teens have great potential for leading others in ways that can have an incredible impact! Our leadership
development programs harness that potential through experimental learning and doing. These programs
are geared for teens who are highly motivated, ready to work AND play hard, and who demonstrate the
additional responsibilities in accepting the challenges of leadership!
COUNSELORS IN TRAINING (C.I.T.)
Leaders of tomorrow are teens today.
At the YMCA, Young people are given the opportunity
and responsibility to develop leadership qualities in
a supportive environment through the Counselor-InTraining (CIT) Program. C.I.T’s are mentored by Y staff
with a special emphasis on leadership, communication,
teamwork, listening, and public speaking. C.I.T’s also
receive CPR and First Aid Training. These weekly
sessions allow teens to explore all areas of the Y while
building the confidence and skills necessary to enter
the work force, be part of a team, and strengthen
communication!
CPR/FIRST AID
Your CIT will have the opportunity this summer to become
ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute) Certified in CPR
and First Aid. This course consists of an online training and
1.5 hour classroom training completed during their time at
the Y.
COACHES IN TRAINING
New to Sports Camp this year is Coaches in
Training. Do you have a passion for Sports? Have
you ever wanted to teach your skills to others? Join

coming athletes. Coaches will have the opportunity
