My goal was to use the pi shawl premise, but to choose or modify and
align lace stitches so that they would flow organically from one into
another obscuring the “eyelet” rounds.
Thanks to my sister-in-law Anne who got me thinking about Estonian
and Orenberg type lace and toTerry and the Finger Lakes TKGA for
creating a reason to make a pi shawl.
Shawl diameter 40” before blocking,70” blocked
Yarn Classic Elite Silky Alpaca Lace
3.5 skeins = 1610.0 yards (1472.2m)
Gauge is not important
Needles
Size 3 36” circular
Size 7 (for binding off
Crochet hook to cast on
Cast on 9 stitches using a circular cast on
I used Emily Ocker's Cast On

Transfer stitches to size 3 36” circular needle (magic loop) or dpns or 2 circulars as desired.
Do not pull cast on tight until you have knit enough rounds that your work has no tension on it.

Using 2 strands of yarn and a size 7 needle
P2, (slip both stitches back onto left needle, P2tog, P1)*
To last stitch.
Cut yarns leaving 8” and pull end of yarn through the last P2tog loop.
Using a tapestry needle thread both yarns under and around the base of first P2tog loop and back into the last
P2tog loop.
Weave in ends, just under bound off stitches.
