Guest Speaker: BHS Coach, Paul Golla
P
aul Golla has a love and a long
history of success in his football
coaching career. He is one of the most
respected interscholastic coaches in
the game. He is a much soughtafter clinic speaker renowned
as a “cutting-edge” coach. Golla
has traveled all over the country
to speak and this year he will be
speaking in Orlando, Chicago,
Greenwich and Cleveland. Other
accomplishments for Coach
Golla include being published
18 times in the “Coaches
Choice” magazine and having
made numerous instructional videos on
both offense and defense.
Golla began his coaching career shortly
after attending college where he coached
at Serrano High School. In 1998, he was
the assistant coach at the University of
Redlands. While there he earned a Masters
in Counseling. Soon thereafter he was the
assistant coach at Granite Hills High School
in Apple Valley for one season. He then

became the head football coach in 2001 at
Silverado High School in Victorville, California.
By the third year, Golla lead their team to
the Sectional Semi-finals and won their first
league championship. Soon after
Coach Golla accepted a position
as Defensive Coordinator in Texas,
Victoria Memorial High School,
In 2005, Coach Golla returned
to his home state of California
as the head coach for the
Bakersfield High School Drillers.
During his tenure, the Drillers
have made it to the semi-finals
twice, went undefeated in 2011,
and made five appearances in the CIF Valley
Championship. In 2013, his team won the
Valley Championship, the Regional Southern
California Championship and the California
Division 1 State Championship. BHS is the
only Kern County high school that has won a
State title. In 2014, Coach Golla’s team made
it to the semi-finals where he has won his
100th game in less than 10 years as the BHS
Head Coach.
