Weekly activities include: instructional swimming, art, cooking, music, education, sports, and play time. Special attention is given to the social growth and emotional development of each camper. Making friends and instilling Jewish identity help create a lifetime of memories. Swim Academy Half Day Koach Special Needs • Entering Grades K-8 Koach provides an educational, creative, socially and emotionally safe environment for children and tweens. Eligible campers are mainstreamed in our Variety Camps and participate in the same activities, while buddied with a shadow counselor. This program requires an in-take application and a personal interview prior to acceptance. Limited spaces available • Sibling discounts not available. In addition to all the regular Variety Camp activities, KOL ECHAD includes a daily literacy component, enabling campers during their lengthy summer vacation, to improve their reading skills under the guidance of a trained and certified teacher. Space is limited for this needs-based program, which is made possible through a grant from The Children’s Trust. Limited number of slots are available for children with special needs. A full eight week commitment is required. The MAR-JCC’s Camp Sol Taplin joins with The Children’s Trust to provide a well-rounded camp experience, including a literacy component to qualifying families. Limited space is available. Culturama Camps Our Culturama Camps allow you to become a ballerina, a chemist, mad scientist, or a tech-savvy star by combining science, nature, engineering, measurement, and movement. Stretch your imagination, perform on stage, develop creativity, soar to new heights, and have a blast while you develop self-confidence and a sense of teamwork, or be part of the group where “Girls just wanna have fun,” at our popular Girls’ Inc. Camp! Teen Travel JCC Maccabi Games Stamford, CT Open to Jewish teens (Must be age 13-16 by July 31, 2016) Fun, sportsmanship, and athletic competition! World famous Olympic-style event. Team NMB will consist of boys and girls competing in basketball, baseball, swimming, dance, soccer, and tennis. Athletes will train for three weeks at the MAR-JCC prior to the start of competition. For tryouts, call David Fried at ext. 124. Registration must be completed by April 1, 2016. Fee includes all transportation, training, home hospitality, all meals, and uniforms. 4-Week Program. Sibling discount not available. Training Camp: July 18 – August 5 • Maccabi Games: August 7-12 Glatt kosher meals are available upon prior request. Madatzim (Junior Leaders) Entering Grades 9 & 10 What an amazing way to experience the role as a future Jewish leader! •Field Trip 1x/4-week session •Optional social outings throughout summer •This program combines all of the fun of interacting with campers along with valuable leadership training. Madatzim will have weekly training sessions with professional instructors. It is a stepping stone to becoming a great role model. Not eligible for early discounts or combo discount. Kid Konnection/Transportation/Summer Shlichim & Staff Kid Konnection (After Care) An optional extended day program is available morning and afternoon. Morning care includes outdoor play and quiet games, while afternoon care may include swim, athletics, movie, game room, and snack. Morning: 7:30-8:45am Afternoon: 4-6pm, Monday-Thursday/4-5:30pm, Friday. A $1 late fee will be collected for each additional minute after 6pm, Monday - Thursday and 5:30pm on Friday. • 2 weeks: $160 • 4 weeks: $275 • 6 weeks: $400 • 8 weeks: $495 FREE Bus Transportation A1A Transportation has been transporting our campers for more than 15 summers. Avoid carpool lines and take advantage of this free & supervised service. First come, first served basis, registration required. Group Pick-up/Drop-off: Aventura Lakes, Harbor Islands, Highland Lakes, and Presidential Estates- (Minimum - 20 riders/Maximum - 50 riders). Any camper under the age of 6 years old must be accompanied by an older sibling • Parent/Guardian required to be at locations for pick-up and drop-off at designated times. Summer Shlichim Each year, we host specially trained cultural emissaries from Israel - Summer Shlichim - who bring their talent, skills, and love for Israel to our summer camp program. Each Shaliach has recently completed his/her army or national service and is experienced in areas of formal and informal education. Families can share this international experience by extending “Home Hospitality.” Please contact Yael Bar-on, our Community Shaliach/Director of Israel Programs, at 305-932-4200 x128, if you are interested in housing our Israeli guests. Summer Staff Our staff is made up of caring individuals dedicated to making each camper’s experience positive and meaningful. Some of our staff grew up at Camp Sol Taplin and/or are year-round MAR-JCC staff members, while others have gone through a rigorous interview process. Staff consists of moms, dads, educators, college students, and young adults who are looking for a rewarding experience. We take pride in the ethnic and cultural diversity of our staff, all of whom have one thing in common - to provide the best summer experience for your camper. All staff is well trained prior to the start of the summer camp season. Staff orientation and training ensures that they are well prepared, energetic, and have lots of camp spirit!
