LETTER FROM
THE CONFERENCE CHAIR
Dear Friends:
It is my honor to have been asked to serve as the program Chair for the annual
Advances in 3D&4D Ultrasound conference, being held June 1-3, 2012 in Atlanta.
I would like to invite you to join me, enjoy the up to date lectures and take advantage of the hands-on workshop opportunities. And with this being the tenth anniversary of Advances in 3D&4D Ultrasound we have created a special program for
beginners as well as advanced users.
In today’s OB-GYN practice 3D/4D ultrasound is no longer just about pretty pictures.
It has evolved into an invaluable tool for ultrasound assessment. We have organized
a faculty of leading pioneers and experts in gynecological and obstetric ultrasound.
They are clinicians, like you, and will translate their ultrasound skills into practical
material that you can use every day. They will help you optimize your use of this
technology with special emphasis on the recent advances in gynecologic ultrasound.
As in the past, we will include live scanning demonstrations and workshops in offline
analysis of images. And finally, we will present the very popular audience interactive
case presentations as a central part of the program.
I personally look forward to greeting you in Atlanta.

Describe the technical principles of image acquisition and post
processing in 3D/4D ultrasound imaging.
List indications for the use of 3D/4D ultrasound in the obstetric and
gynecologic patient.
Recognize obstetric and gynecologic abnormalities by 3D/4D ultrasound.
Apply 3D/4D ultrasound in the ultrasound evaluation of the obstetric and
gynecologic patient.
Achieve improved patient outcomes through the application of 3D/4D
ultrasound to the obstetric and gynecologic patient.

viewing of images
ACCREDITATION & CERTIFICATION
The Institute for Advanced Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.
The Institute for Advanced Medical Education designates this live activity for up to 24
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with
the extent of their participation in the conference.
You may earn 16 credits for attending the full conference. An additional 4 credits are
available for attendance at the NT Credentialing Course.
Each participant will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance showing Category 1 credits
earned in the course. Many attendees will find this useful for submission to credentialing
boards, managed care organizations and accreditation bodies.
Application for cognates is pending with the American College of Obstetricians &
Gynecologists. Application for CE credits, accepted as Category A by the ARRT, is
pending with the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

NUCHAL TRANSLUCENCY
CREDENTIALING COURSE
Nuchal Translucency (NT) measurement in association with first trimester biochemistry
has been shown to be an excellent screening modality for chromosomal abnormalities in
the fetus. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Foundation (MFMF) recognizes the need for quality
assurance in the area of first trimester risk assessment and presents this educational course
with the Institute of Advanced Medical Education on the theories and techniques involved
in obtaining accurate NT measurements. This program is designed for physician sonologists and sonographers and meets the education course requirement component of
credentialing by the MFMF.
The Institute for Advanced Medical Education designates this conference for a maximum
of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ Physicians should only claim credit commensurate
with the extent of their participation in the activity.
After attending the NT Credentialing course each participant will:
■ Understand the data underlying first trimester screening, second trimester screening
and a combination of first and second trimester screening for fetal aneuploidy
■ Become familiar with the standardized technique for imaging and measuring the fetal
nuchal translucency
■ Understand the importance and methods underlying quality assurance for nuchal
translucency sonography
■ Be aware of the pitfalls and implementation difficulty in applying nuchal translucency
base screening to a clinical practice
■ Use information acquired in this activity to achieve NT Credentialing
