One of American Electric Power’s best known symbols of environmental
stewardship is the company’s 60,000 acre reclamation region known as
ReCreation Land. Since the mid-1940’s this area has been surfaced
mined for coal and later reclaimed through the planting of more than
63 million trees.
ReCreation Land features more than 640 lakes and ponds, nearly 380
camp sites, hunting, fishing, hiking, and equine trails, boating, bird
watching, and mountain biking, all available for public use at no charge.
