HIGH SCHOOL HEADLINES—The Art Department is hosting the
8th annual District Arts Festival on Saturday March 5th 2016 from 11-2 pm at
BHS. The festival will celebrate the arts in the district with visual arts, dramatic
arts and musical selections done by students in grades k-12. Please come to
support the arts and to view the vast talent we have in our district !
Time will move quickly as we work through the rest
of this school year. Some reminders…..We are in
the midst of scheduling students for the next
school year. We hope to have student input completed by the end of February-early March. By expediting the process we hope to have 2016-17
schedules in student hands by early May. This will
give almost a full month of time to make adjustments going into the 2016-17 school year.
State testing for most BHS students begins in MidApril. Additional information about testing is included in this newsletter. If you have any questions
please feel free to contact BHS.

Mrs. Sanderman (P-Z)
Contact Counselor and Registrar, Mrs. Gwen Ralston at extension 12902 for general questions.
16-17 Academic Scheduling: The BHS school counselors have begun the scheduling process for the school
year. Students have received scheduling information and are now able to go online to input their course requests. Students have until February 11 to input requests into the system. Once all requests have been entered, students will receive a verification sheet that will go home to be reviewed and signed. Students will receive a copy of their 2016-2017 schedule in mid-May. All changes must be completed before the first day of
school. This is a change…in past years, students had 3 days into the start of the year to make changes. Up to
three weeks after the start of school, students may still drop a course for a study hall, provided they do not
already have a study hall in their schedule.
Local Scholarships: The Local Scholarship Application Forms will be available for seniors beginning Monday,
February 22nd on the Guidance website. The due date for return of these forms is Monday, March 21st. Students need to fill the application out only once for copying and distribution to the scholarship sponsors.
CC+ Meeting: A meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 8 beginning
at 7:00pm to provide information to students and parents related to the College Credit Plus program (CC+). This program replaced the dual enrollment and
PSEO options at BHS last year.
AP Testing Information: Students intending to take an AP Test this spring will
sign up in their AP classes. Students need to pay their fees to the Counseling
Office between March 14th and March 23rd. The fee for each test is $92. Please
make checks payable to Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools. After March 23rd, a late
fee of $55 will be added to each AP Test, making each test $146. AP Testing
will take place from May 2nd through May 13th.
Greene County CC Scheduling: All sophomores are invited to consider the
college, career and technical programs offered by the Greene County Career
Center. There are over 20 programs to choose from for BHS students interested in Career-Technical training. Please log on to www.greeneccc.com or call
Janet Baughn at 372-6941 ext. 269 to learn more about these programs. GCCC
Tech Prep Programs carry a $3000 scholarship to Sinclair Community College.
National Honor Society Students Make Valentines for Community Members
Under the leadership of junior Jennifer Winn, several members of the National Honor Society made Valentine cards and delivered them to students at Bell
Creek Intermediate & BHS and to residents of the nursing home in Bellbrook. The recipients were very grateful for the high school students’
greetings!

BELLBROOK BAND/MARCHING EAGLES NOTES
February Music Notes 2016:
Congratulations to 22 Bellbrook students for their acceptance into the Tri-State Honors Band,

On January 18th, the band department held their district chamber music festival at Bellbrook High School. Every band student from

peculiar way. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but even grown-ups can learn
a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that 'anything can

Our Varsity Girls Basketball team is heading into the final week of the season leading up to the OHSAA Tournament. The
girls are currently 19-0, and have clinched the SWBL Championship with their current 11-0 record within the league. The
team is also ranked 3rd in the state amongst all Div.II teams, and are seeded 2nd behind Alter in the OHSAA Sectional
bracket. The ladies will finish the regular season with road games against Clinton Massie, Miamisburg, and Brookville.
Great job ladies!
The Varsity Wrestling team closed out their regular season competition this past week in the Eaton Invitational, and continue to prepare for the SWBL Championships at Franklin HS on Feb. 5th and 6th. The team struggled in the first round of
the Dual State Tournamanet last week, but are looking to bounce back strong as the individual State tournament will
start in two weeks (Feb. 19th and 20th). Please note that the team with compete in the Sectionals tournament at Washington Court House again this year.
Our Varsity Boys/Girls Swim and Dive programs are having another great year, and swimmers and divers continue to improve their
team and individual scores/times. So far, 12 new school records have been set. Bellbrook had its best appearance ever at the Southwest
Classic meet, sending 9 swimmers to the finals. The boys finished in 5th place, our highest finish ever. With the SWBL and State meets
coming up at the time of this writing, more records are bound to be set!
Our Varsity Basketball Cheer and Competition Cheer are doing a great job supporting the teams, rallying the
Golden Eagles spectators, and continue to work hard on their team and individual skills. The Varsity Cheerleaders will
be supporting the basketball teams during thelast two weeks of the season, and as they enter the OHSAA Tournament
starting in mid February. The Comp Cheer squad will compete in a Regional Qualifier on Feb. 7th at Northwestern HS and
hope to qualify for the OASSA State Tournament being held on March 3rd at OSU. The Competition team will also participate in the SWBL Comp Cheer Championships on Feb. 14th at Dixie HS.
