Captain America`s Shield Have you ever wanted your own shield
Have you ever wanted your own
shield like Captain America? Or how about Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir?
Now you can! Here are some fun and easy
activities you and your special hero can do to
make this Father’s Day truly MARVEL-ous!
Captain America’s Shield
What you’ll need:
•  Either a Frisbee (preferably white to make it easier to draw on), or a thick paper plate. •  Markers, crayons, or paint (red, white, and blue).
•  Ruler
Instructions:
Step #1 – Using the image below as an reference, draw three circles on your Frisbee or
plate. From the edge of your Frisbee or plate, measure 1-1.5” toward the center and draw
your first circle from there followed by the rest.
Step #2 - In the center of your Frisbee or plate, draw a star. The points should touch the
edges of the inner circle. Paint/color the star white (if it isn’t already). Then, color the area
around the star blue. Step #3 – Color the rings in Captain America’s shield. Following the picture below, paint/
color the outer ring red, then white, and red again.
Your finished shield should look like the image below. You are now ready to go outside and
throw your shield just like Cap!
Mjolnir (Thor’s Hammer)
What you’ll need:
•  A shoebox •  Gray paint
•  Scissors
•  Cardboard tube (paper towel roll)
•  Silver glitter
•  Brown felt (construction paper will work well)
•  Glue/Tape
•  Brown Yarn
•  Black magic marker
•  Pencil
Instructions:
Step #1 – Tape or glue the top of the shoebox to the box. Step #2 – Use your pencil to trace a circle on the bottom of the box using the
cardboard tube. With an adult’s help, cut a hole in the bottom of the box, using te
circle as a guide. Now, paint the outside of the entire shoebox gray. If you want
Mjolnir to shine, cover in silver glitter as the paint dries. Step #3 – While your shoebox is drying, glue brown felt (or construction paper)
around your paper towel roll. This will create a smoother handle for your hammer. Step #4 – With an adult’s help, punch two holes toward the end of the tube. Loop
the yarn through and tie the ends together to make your handle/wrist strap. Step #5 – Put the paper towel roll in the hole you cut on the bottom of your
shoebox. Use glue or tape so that it doesn’t slip out. Step #6 – Use your magic marker and write the following words on the side of the
shoebox – Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess
the power of Thor
You are now ready to wield the power of Mjolnir, the Mighty Thor’s hammer!
Spidey Face Mask
What you’ll need:
•
Paper plate
•
Red crayon or colored pencil
•
Black magic marker
•
Scissors
Instructions:
Step #1 – Hold your plate up to your face so you know exactly where your eyes will be.
Mark down where your eyes line up on the plate and draw an outline of Spider-Man’s eyes
over those marks (use the picture above for reference). Step #2 – With an adult’s help, use your scissors to cut along the inner outline. You’ll now
be able to see through the eye holes in your mask! Step #3 – Color the entire mask red with your crayon
Step #4 - Use your black magic marker to draw the webs on your mask.
Step #5 – How to draw Spidey’s face: •
Draw a small circle in the middle of the mask between the eyes. •
Using the image above as a guide, draw three lines from the center web to the top
of the mask. •
Next draw two lines from the center web to the bottom of the mask. •
Draw two more lines from the eyes, then begin to fill in with curved “web” lines. •
Notice how your curved lines become bigger as you move farther away from the
center. Continue to draw this until your mask looks something like the image above. You now have your very own Spidey Mask! Punch small holes on either side and attach string and your secret identity is safe!
Gift Ideas
While you’re feeling crafty, make this
gift together with your special hero!
Super Hero Memory Book •  Create a photo album using photos or drawings of all the great
memories you’ve shared with your dad or the ULTIMATE hero in
your life. •  If you have ticket stubs, old cards, letters, etc. add them to the
memory book or simply create an album full of great stories. •  Underneath your pictures and drawings, write down some
similarities that your dad shares with your favorite Marvel Super
Heroes, to let him know just how super you think he is!
After watching the Ultimate Father’s
Day Marathon inside Marvel Universe on
Disney XD, take some time to talk about
some of the scenarios our Super Heroes
encountered. •  Wolverine and Spider-Man switch bodies! If you could be a
Super Hero for a day, who would it be and why? •  Thor’s brother turns him into a frog! Have you ever been mad at
your brother or sister? What did you do to make things better?
•  Tony Stark invents the Iron Spider armor. What would you like
to invent? •  The Hulk and Spidey team up to battle an evil villain. How have
you teamed up with a friend to make a task easier?
•  Spider-Man’s best friend Harry becomes his enemy as Venom.
Have you ever had a disagreement with your best friend? How
did you handle it? Grab your team and dress up like
your favorite Marvel Universe Super
Hero! Try out some of the ideas
below to help you get into character. •  Pose your hand in the ‘thwip’ position (palm up, index finger and
thumb out and two middle fingers bent inward. Loop a rubber band
over the two bent fingers in the middle and stretch it toward your
wrist. After choosing a safe target (like a pillow or an empty can) fire
away! Draw Ultimate Spider-Man villains on plastic cups and set them
up in a pyramid and see who can take out the most villains with one
thwip! NEVER point your ‘webs’ at another person or pet. •  Set up a pillow or cushion fort and smash through it like Hulk in New
York City! •  Pretend to be a frog like Throg (Thor as a frog) and hop through and
obstacle course.
