Principal’s Weekly Letter
The Easter Triduum begins tomorrow, and is made up of
the feasts of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday
and Easter Sunday. The Triduum celebrates the heart of
our Christian faith, salvation and redemption – the death
and resurrection of Jesus. On Holy Thursday we
remember the Last Supper when Jesus offered himself in
the form of bread and wine. We also recall when Jesus
washed the feet of his followers – teaching them by
example to be a servant for all. On Good Friday we
remember Jesus’ anguish and Death on the Cross.
Although sad, this day gives us hope because of the
promise of new life. Finally, on Easter we celebrate the
holiest, most important solemnity of the Church when
we remember Jesus’ Resurrection. Easter, however, is
simply one day. The season of Easter lasts fifty (50)
days and ends with the Solemnity of Pentecost on
Sunday, May 15.
Thank you to Saint John the Baptist Middle School’s 8th
Graders for leading the students in praying the Stations
of the Cross. Tomorrow’s schedule, weather permitting,
is as follows:

In case of inclement weather, the Stations will be held at Saint John the Baptist Church,
and you will receive an email from your child’s teacher if applicable.
Saint John the Baptist Elementary will be closed for Easter Break from Friday, March 25
through Friday, April 1. The office will close at 1:15pm tomorrow, thus please remind
your son/daughter to bring his/her personal items at dismissal, as the building will not be
accessible until school resumes on Monday, April 4.
On behalf of Saint John the Baptist Elementary’s Administration, Faculty & Staff, we
wish you and your family a blessed Easter! May the celebration of resurrected life bring
new hope to your being. May the victory over earthly death turn your eyes to the
promises of heaven. May the empty tomb help you to leave your sorrows at the foot of
the cross. So that God's hope, promises and forgiveness reign in your life forever.
Gratefully,
Nikki Ward, Principal

2016 Soaring Eagle ALLSPORTS CAMP LOCATION: Skaggs Catholic Center. CAMP PERIOD: Our CoEd Camp is divided into 2 periods of 1 week each. Through past experience, we have found it best to separate the younger kids from the older ones. Therefore, the boys/girls will be divided into different age groups. We play a variety of the sports listed below and rotate each activity after 3545 minutes.
1st Session – June 610 2nd Session – June 27 July 1 ACTIVITIES: Teaching Tips enables the camper to learn skills such as: throwing, dribbling, kicking, batting, shooting, catching, quickness and agility. Team sports may include but are not limited to baseball, floor hockey, kickball, obstacle course, basketball, soccer, dodgeball, touch/flag football, team handball and lacrosse. AGES: Boys/Girls 5 through 11 years old. TIME: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday thru Friday. The staff will be available for early dropoff (8:30) and late pickup (2:30). PLEASE have your child picked up before 2:30 as the Director has coaching and family obligations at this time. A $10 late fee will be collected for children picked up after 2:30. Pick up and drop off will be located at the Northeast entrance to the Juan Diego Auxiliary gym in the circle drive. COST: $125 per weekly session. PLEASE make check payable to Skaggs Catholic Center. attn: Soaring Eagle AllSports Camp (If paid by 5/5) $150 after 5/5. **Your completed application and fee insures your son/daughter a place in the marked session(s), we sold out sessions last year and expect this year’s sessions to be filled before we begin! Unless you are notified otherwise, we will see you on Monday of your selected week. UNIFORM OF THE DAY: Tennis shoes, shorts, and tshirt. Please NO jewelry, gloves, toys, Ipods, cell phones or money should be brought to Camp. On Friday of each week, campers will receive a “Soaring Eagle AllSports” camp Tshirt. LUNCHES: Each camper brings his/her lunch each day. Children should bring their own water bottle and/or sports drink for the day. There is no refrigeration. Please write your camper's name on their lunch bag/box and sports bottles. STAFF AND COUNSELORS: The Camp Directors, William Trentman and Scott Platz, have many years of experience working with young boys/girls as teachers and coaches. They have been involved with athletes at all levels. The Camp Counselors are older boys/girls (high school students) who work under direct supervision of the Directors. These students are chosen based on their character and ability to work with and teach others. In addition, the camp will have guest high school coaches from Juan Diego! These coaches will offer additional drills, coaching tips and expertise to our campers.
