SECRETARY’S SCRIBBLES FOR February 2013 MEETING – The monthly meeting of the Mid-State Antique Auto Club was held at the Crossroads Office Park, 690 Mechanic St., Leominster, Monday, Feb. 04, 2013 MID-STATE 2013 PRESIDENT SAL opened the meeting promptly at 7:05 PM and asked for a “Moment of Silence” for our departed members, friends, victims of catastrophes and our troops overseas. SAL then asked for any new members or invited guests. New Members -Sean Burns & Joseph Coyle and Joan Maguy’s friend Shirley introduced themselves. Upwards of 54 Mid-State members were signed in… We welcome all members, new and old…so, stop by next month!!! REPORTS - SECRETARY MARY BURCHSTEAD – Reading of the previous Monthly Meeting was waived as these minutes appear in our monthly newsletter. Our President then asked if there were any additions or corrections to be made to the report that appeared in last month’s newsletter. There were no replies so the report was accepted as printed. TREASURER GARY REED – with GARY ‘out-of-town’ TOM read the Finance Report, which covered the previous month. The report was accepted by the members present. NANCY ARBO – making mementos for the Columbia Hotel Fire Victims … she has already made dozens but needs to find the last of the fire victims. A time consuming endeavor but NANCY says it means something to those and she is determined to complete all of them (45+). VERY THOUGHTFUL WORK NANCY …!!! ATTENDANCE PRIZE – RICH HOLT’S name was drawn for the Attendance Prize and was present to collect the LOOT !!! Way to go RICH!!! Next month the Attendance Prize starts all over again at $20.00. Remember - You can only win if you are at our monthly meeting– so come on down !!! President SAL once again reminded the members that we are all ‘encouraged’ to throw a couple bucks into the ‘bright red PIZZA CAN’ as we spend major bucks each month on the super-duper pizzas, drinks and all the rest of the goodies. The month of March brings in our annual breakfast run; we will be going to a new place this year Cruiser’s Malt Shoppe - March 10 in Gardner MA. With spring right around the corner, the first big show coming up is our friends from the Early Ford V-8 club of New England, They are having their annual show at the Fitchburg Airport in April - hopefully the weather works out, anyway it’s a fun event. Their are no Sholan Farms events this year with our cars they want to do different things… We need pictures of the month for our newsletter, see Tom . Page 5 God Bless America Where We Went & What We Did SAT FEB 16 – NEW ENGLAND MODEL ENGINEERING SHOW at the Charles River Museum PAUL O’KEEFE reports - Met for breakfast and early morning heckling at the North End Diner in Leominster … Took the 9:30 train from North Leominster to Waltham, again more heckling Walked around the corner to the museum for 10:30 Walked to Moody Street and the Watch City Pub for a nice lunch Went back to the museum and met up with Jack's son and grandsons Sean and Patrick Took the 4 pm train and was back to Leominster by 5pm. Museum has lots of neat stuff to see but the highlight was certainly the NEMES show held yearly upstairs with all kinds of model engines, planes,trains, boats ... some made of wood, but mostly metal works of art .... and nearly all that function. One gentleman had a scale model rotary airplane engine, a scale Model A engine and a few others ...all that ran really impressive and amazing stuff. Turns out this guy has an antique car repair shop in Saugus ....and owns a few: a 29 Model A and a 36 Buick model 60 that still has the original "Pristine" paint. Just proves that car guys and gals are everywhere ! A good day and a good time ...Thanks to JACK CARROLL for putting it together !
